WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will be working within our Innovation spaces, including world-class R&D facility with a dedicated machine shop, additive lab, maintenance team, sampling areas, and product creation teams. This role will work directly with multiple teams of highly skilled Engineers, Innovators, researchers, and leaders throughout Advanced Innovation. Most of your time will be working directly in the Machine Shop with small teams of 2-3, producing functional prototypes to accelerate key innovations within footwear innovation NXT.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Nike Explore Team (NXT) Future Capabilities is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to join the Rapid Prototype and Maintenance (RPM) team in the role of Machinist, reporting to the RPM Machine Shop Manager. The candidate should possess working knowledge of 3 and 5 axis CNC machining and a basic understanding of G and M Code. This person should possess a high degree of problem-solving skills with the ability to be flexible in an ambiguous environment. They will work both independently and in a collaborative work environment and should be curious and open to learning to skills.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • High School Diploma; will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Minimum 3+ years relevant work experience.
  • Experience operating 3 and 5 axis CNC mills
  • Experience using manual mills and lathes
  • Ability to produce precision parts in a variety of materials
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Ability to use measurement equipment, calipers, micrometer, probes, height gauge, dial indicator.
  • Experience with CNC programming
  • Experience using Fanuc machine control
  • Experience using DMG Celos/Seimens control
  • Experience using a 3-axis router
  • Experience cutting and forming sheet metal a plus
  • Experience with FDM 3D printing technology a plus
  • Be a creative and active problem solver
  • Ability to handle multiple competing projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a team environment with short project deadlines
  • Ability to lift tools, parts, and various equipment (up to 50lb) is required

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a Machinist you will be supporting and sustaining operations of the Machine Shop including machining components, fixtures, jigs, by operating CNC machines, manual machines, saws, grinders, and various hand tools. You'll be expected to deliver solutions quickly and ensure a fast-paced and challenging work environment. Success depends on the ability to be a self-starter and work well in an environment of ambiguity across a wide variety of designs, materials, and machines.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

  • Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, Innovators, and other stakeholders to deliver custom proof-of-concept devices supporting new manufacturing process development.
  • Support part request management through software system (AirTable) including updating part progress.
  • Keep the work area clean supporting 5S efforts and material management activities.
  • Provide basic machine servicing with proper lubricants and coolant.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
