Global Category Communications Manager

The Nike Global Football (Soccer) Communications Manager will play a key role in driving Nike's communications efforts around the world, creating content and experiences that help Nike reach new audiences. A successful candidate must have a passion for sport and storytelling. The individual should also be proactive, creative, and solutions-oriented. Good judgment and a thorough understanding of the media landscape are essential.

As a key member of Nike's Global Communications Team, the individual will work closely with Communications peers across all Nike categories, and as part of Nike's integrated marketing offense. The individual will also contribute to global and regional media events when necessary, as well as support, media train and staff Nike spokespeople (designers, athletes, etc.) when appropriate. An effective candidate will be expected to develop and cultivate key relationships and work well in a cross-functional, cross-geographical, and cross-category matrix organizational structure.

Candidate should have experience developing communications across multiple platforms, including print, web, audio, video, mobile, and social media.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Business, or related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in high profile Editorial, Corporate Communications or Communications role supporting and/or covering globally branded organizations, either in agency or in-house
  • Knowledge of sports culture, footwear or apparel industry
  • Excellent writing, strategic planning and editorial management skills combined with speed, flexibility, and attention to detail
  • Ability to develop communications that engage across multiple platforms
  • Deep understanding of the evolving digital landscape
  • Fluent written and spoken English


Preferred:
  • Experience working with high profile brand spokespeople and athletes
  • Demonstrated cultural acuity and ability to work with different cultural practices and customs
  • High aptitude for creative thinking balanced against bottom line business needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and develop consensus within diverse groups and with people at all levels within the organization
  • Professional work experience in the United States and at least one other country
