Director, Demand Strategic Initiatives - Global Demand Supply Management

Nike's Strategic Initiative Director's job is to keep us moving in the right direction by establishing a business planning process, driving our one to three year strategic and business plans, and leading transformational initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams. We frame complex and ambiguous issues, conduct consumer, competitive, retail and market analyses, field research, monitor performance management, create financial models, and develop action plans. We keep the focus on strategy so that the business teams can run the business in a way to maximize revenue, margin and inventory.

As a Strategic Initiative Director for Global Demand and Supply Management (DSM), you will play a central role in helping the DSM team deliver game changing strategies and capabilities. You will work closely with the DSM functional Vice President and your counterparts across DSM to align across stakeholders. You will work closely with the functional leadership team to develop, communicate and execute strategic and financial plans, helping the team analyze, prioritize and execute against its strategic roadmap, and lead/co-lead our annual planning processes (Plan The Work, Resource The Plan, Work The Plan). In addition, you will be responsible for project management of select cross-functional and cross-product engine initiatives, liaising with functional leaders and lending a diverse skillset and strategic thought leadership and communication across Demand and Merchandise Planning, Retail Planning, Business Planning, Inventory Planning, Buying and Management, Integrated Business Planning and S&OP.

Doing all this requires a unique individual. You must be a self-starter, flexible thinker and outstanding communicator who is comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing different personalities and perspectives up to an Executive level. You must possess an ability to see the big picture and connect operational activities to larger business and financial objectives. And you should have strong acumen Storytelling to provide clarity and simplicity to ambiguous and complex business scenarios. You will need those skills as you work across multiple Demand and Supply Management teams and across multiple functions, living within Nike's matrixed organization. Success will depend on your ability to quickly form both professional and personal relationships with colleagues and leveraging those connections to drive to rigorous, well-communicated deliverables.


Qualifications

Requirements for the position include:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree is preferred
  • 8+ years total work experience (2 additional years experience in lieu of an advanced degree)
  • Experience with Consumer Products and international markets, desired
  • Prior experience in business development, business/strategic planning, management consulting, operations, finance or related fields is strongly preferred. Candidates with both strategy and financial acumen will standout
  • Experience or background supporting Retail strategy and/or Retail projects (strong Retail acumen) is strongly preferred
  • Experience with external benchmarking, research and analysis of industry leading best practices
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with Storytelling and high profile communication capabilities, as well as cross functional collaboration and partnerships needed
  • Project management, problem structuring and strategic problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in ambiguous environments
  • Passion for sustainability, product and sport
  • Ability to excel in a highly matrixed organized
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Standout "can do" attitude and enthusiasm
  • Willing to travel 20-30%
