Art Director

The Art Director for Retail Experience works directly with the creative director and is responsible for leading/developing/delegating and executing design for each project.

You will collaborate with Nike digital design leadership, engineering and cross functional product teams to design innovative retail experiences - predominantly within the Nike App, but also holistically help develop content solutions throughout our Nike retail stores and environments. These include informative interactive/reactive screen installations, brand pop-up store moments, customization tools and other world class interactions that simplify, enhance and inspire surprise & delight into the customer experience.

We seek a skilled design leader, a strategic, innovative problem solver, and a collaborative team player who can lead and develop a small team while handling multiple projects of differing size and scope. You are driven by curiosity and passionate about user-centered experience design and able to handle both high-level vision and detail-focused execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and lead the creative vision for the Nike app at retail, as well as other retail related interactive experiences.
  • Work with design director on the Nike App, and lead the development of a sharp integrated Retail POV for the app and for how it optimally integrates with our physical retail stores and the Athlete tool.
  • Embrace a consumer experience focused perspective, without losing sight on innovation and surprise and delight.
  • Produce high quality user experience design through hybrid wireframe and visual designs, flow diagrams, and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with the product team on user experience decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops.
  • Rapidly iterate on design prototypes and working applications.
  • Help to lead presentations for new or existing work.
  • Work closely with and across a teams of engineers, product managers, and fellow designers.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years agency, in-house or start-up design experience and interactive work
  • 2+ years of Art Director experience leading design projects
  • Proven record of shipping quality software
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills within the team and with partners
  • An outstanding portfolio showcasing intelligent digital strategy and creative design solutions
  • An organized, conceptual thinker and master of user experience with the ability to produce exceptional design work
  • A Passion for Motion & Interactive experiences
  • Solid foundation in typography, layout, and general design
  • A passion for innovation and technology with a solid understanding of digital tools, trends, and infrastructure
  • Experience with creating websites and/or apps for mobile devices
  • Experience with creating digital work for physical spaces; storytelling screens, installations etc.
  • Understanding of underlying technology is necessary. You don't have to be a developer, but you understand what makes things work
  • In-depth understanding of Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and Keynote
  • Experience bringing designs to life through animation; i.e. Principle, Flash, After Effects
  • Able to function independently and in a team environment
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in design, advertising, art direction or related field.
