Additive Manufacturing Engineer II

As our Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will join the team to assist and collaborate with senior engineers in the development and/or advancement of additive manufacturing methods and processes for tooling in support of Nike Air manufacturing. You will be required to leverage your knowledge in the following areas: 3D design software, tool design, tool manufacturing methods (including additive manufacturing) and process development, and Nike Air development and manufacturing.
You will work with cross functional team that may consist of design engineers, tooling engineers & technicians, and process engineers, as well as with other disciplines and teams within Nike Air Manufacturing Innovation. You will also help to build and strengthen relationships across similar functions at Nike to share knowledge and to pursue opportunities in additive manufacturing that best support the strategy of our Air MI team.
Keeping in mind the current state of manufacturing, you will always be looking forward at new methods, materials, tooling, or processes to push the boundaries of how new products and tooling can be manufactured with the help of additive manufacturing technology. It will be required that you research, explore and educate yourself and others on evolving technologies, processes or tooling which makes new innovations in manufacturing and/or product design possible.
You'll use various methods of communication to assure key stakeholders are informed of available technology and the development of processes pertaining to additive. This includes creating documentation on best practices and other training documents that will be shared internally among users of additive technology. It will also be necessary to collaborate with external vendors on a regular basis.
You'll stay up to date on the critical skills required for your job through on-site training, conferences, or other functions which enable you to maintain a high level of performance.


Qualifications
• BS Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or similar field, including 2-5 years' experience in some or all of the following fields: additive manufacturing, high volume manufacturing processes, design engineering , tooling design and engineering, and material science
• Proficiency in Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software is required
• Strong written and verbal skills is required
• Experience in product design & tooling for high volume manufacturing is a plus
• Knowledge or experience in thermoforming is a plus
• Ability to handle multiple competing projects simultaneously
• Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions and deal with ambiguity and frequent changes in priorities is required
• Some lifting of tooling, parts and various equipment (up to 50lb)
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion
