Writer, NFL.com's End Around (NFL.com/endaround)

NFL.com is hiring a part-time content writer/editor for its End Around platform. End Around focuses on the culture of the NFL, covering everything from touchdown dances and Twitter beefs to on-field bloopers and monkeys riding on dogs.

Essential Functions:

  • Write 75- to 300-word articles that focus on what’s trending in the world of the NFL. Write multiple articles each day.
  • Create ideas for articles, running features, and other content for use on all NFL Media properties.
  • Monitor news sites, social media, and other outside sources to ensure the right content is represented on NFL.com.
  • Execute stories and promotion by working with other NFL departments: video team, social media department, NFL Network, and editorial staff.
  • Work with NFL.com news desk to ensure all content is factually accurate, consistent with NFL.com’s editorial policies, and presented well.
  • Demonstrate news judgment in writing, editing and story selection.
  • Participate in NFL Media properties like podcasts and online video.

Required Education and Experience:

  • At least two years editorial experience as a sports, entertainment or popular culture writer, preferably in online medium.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit deep institutional knowledge of the entire NFL from rosters to news flow to where to find stories.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory. Journalism degree a plus.

  • Ability to self-start and multi-task while setting priorities.

Travel:

  • Possible travel for league tentpole events (NFL Draft, NFL Combine, Pro Bowl, Super Bowl) or for other business matters in Culver City office.

Expected Hours of Work:

  • This position covers 30 hours per week over three to four days. Nights and weekends when necessary.
