DFT Operations Supervisor

Reporting to Director of Media Administration, the Film Scanning Operations Supervisor will be accountable for the processing of all archival film through the digital conversion process. This includes operating the digital scan stations and supervising a team of operators. In addition, the position will be responsible for delivering files for color grading, along with rendering a corrected master file for delivery to Media Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Scan film using digital film scanners
  • Track all film reels through scanning process using the Digital Film Transfer tracking application
  • Closely monitor progress of all film flats through scanning process
  • Work with the Media Coordinator to identify priorities and communicate the progress status of each project request
  • Relay priority list of all requested film scans to the team
  • Render master mezzanine file after color grading process
  • QC all rendered files for technical issues
  • Deliver files to Media Administration for transcoding, delivery, and archiving
  • Organize the processing of rescans and aligning TC to match previous version
  • Identify all film requiring audio syncing
  • Work with Director of Media Administration to create all necessary standard operating procedures

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in post-production directly related to film workflows
  • Extensive knowledge of film workflow, online finishing, and color science
  • Understanding of frame rate conversion and expansive knowledge of video codecs
  • Operational experience with Blackmagic Resolve
  • Operational experience with Lasergraphics ScanStation
  • Leadership or management experience
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
