Position Overview:
The Web Security Research Manager guides and improves the team’s efforts to manage the malware Signature
Queues and ensure new signatures are incorporated in SMART in a timely manner. In addition this position will
help educate our customers by publishing security related articles on the SiteLock and WPDistrict blogs, and
researching potential vulnerabilities in common products and plugins. The Manager fosters employee growth
and success, and provides Research Team status and feedback to management.

Position Responsibilities:
The Web Security Research Manager will take a proactive approach to identifying security risks to our customers.
Responsibilities for this position will include:
Decode and determine intent of suspicious code.
Provide decoding assistance to local and international team members.
Create and deploy code snippets to catch suspicious files.
Review partial signatures and create regular expressions that will safely clean malicious code.
Provide second review of signatures before deployment.
Deploy signatures in a timely, coordinated manner.
Clean site infections of malicious SEO spam.
Submit new malicious sites and code to signature queue.
Create tools to automate tasks.
Educate customers by writing timely blog posts on the latest malware and security trends.
Edit team members’ articles for content and voice.
Coordinate with Marketing to publish features and articles.
Publish time-sensitive articles using WordPress.
Post to, and supervise the team’s use of, social media.
Continuously analyze WordPress and other software, top plug-ins and themes to identify potential security
Research sources of infections to identify additional signs of infection.
Develop and revise documentation for SMART and Research Team tools.
Hold weekly status calls with international Sig Q Team members.
Lead the analysis of and report on possible phishing and malware attacks upon SiteLock and its employees.
Stay abreast of the latest web, WordPress, and general security related developments.

Position Requirements:
Overall understanding of programming and server-side scripting, proficiency in PHP.
Comfortable with the Linux command line and regular expressions.
Two (2) to three (3) years experience and/or training pertaining to Internet Security; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Ability to work without supervision and to make appropriate decisions.
Ability to process work with accuracy, with attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Clear written and verbal communications.
