Oracle DBA

Description

The successful candidate for our Oracle DBA role will be a self-starter, who brings significant skills and experience in the relevant technical areas, coupled with the desire and proven ability to work with software development teams. The allocation of time in this position is expected to be 80% towards development and 20% towards DB management. This position is ideal for a qualified candidate who wants to take a larger role in overall product design in a fast growing company moving into Big Data and Analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on leadership of Schema design, SQL development and DB architectural design in a multi-tier relational database environment
  • Work directly with developers, engineering architects and business analysts to transition requirements to database design
  • Provide expert opinions regarding the best practices in meeting requirements and solving issues
  • Manage and monitor lab and production database systems in conjunction with database administration partner
  • Perform performance tuning, security planning and capacity forecasting
  • Act as primary contact for database administration partner
  • Work with architects on design of data strategies across many different DB vendors and implementations

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in an Oracle development environment, including experience with design of schemas and management of Oracle RAC
  • Successfully delivered high-quality software products in a corporate environment
  • Desire and proven ability to work with software development teams
  • Proven ability to interact effectively and professionally with developers, business analysts and overall, within software development teams
  • Previous experience and proven success in leadership roles
  • Must have excellent analytical ability, verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with other database products required (MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server, mongo)
  • Bachelor's degree is required
