WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Develop the engineers on your team -- help them advance their individual careers and develop a healthy, collaborative team culture
  • Mentor and coach your teammates using your technical expertise
  • Build out and lead a high performing team of engineers
  • Collaborate closely with your product owner to build out a roadmap and team vision
  • Work with product, design, and your team to build products and features that have an immediate impact on our partners and investors
  • Use data-driven observations of team performance to drive changes that improve efficiency
  • Promote high engineering standards and hold your teammates accountable
  • Lead and participate in critical technical, design, and product discussions with leaders inside and outside your team


Requirements
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • You have 2+ years directly managing software engineers in a professional setting
    • You have been responsible for coaching the development of your direct reports, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • You're equipped with emotional intelligence, technical ability, and empathy, enabling you to quickly earn your team's trust
  • You are empathetic and employee-focused: you care deeply about the people on your team, enjoy setting and helping them achieve their goals, are comfortable delivering timely feedback (negative or positive), and encourage them to do the best work of their lives
  • You love tackling really tough problems, and value doing things the right way
  • You're passionate about our mission to democratize financial advice, and can work cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver the best product possible
  • You are willing and able to dive into the code yourself
  • Preferably, you have professional experience with the technologies we work with (Ruby/Rails, JRuby, JavaScript, React, Go, Amazon Web Services)
