Primary Responsibilities

  • Accountable for supplying project management talent to Technology organization aligning experience and skills to required business/technology knowledge (identifying and assigning the right talent to the right project).
  • Accountable to Technology senior leadership to ensure project managers are effectively drive project teams to meet expected business/technology outcomes.
  • Responsible for evaluating project management demand and capacity and maintaining forecast on quarterly basis
  • Responsible for managing third party partner(s) that supply variable (flex) project management staffing. Sets SLA levels and manages delivery performance and cost. Addresses issues in timely manner.
  • Responsible for resolving escalated project execution and project management resource issues.
  • Responsible for establishing project planning and delivery standards and governance.
  • Develop Program and Project Management competency model and design training, coaching, mentoring programs that provide continuous learning and career development opportunities.
  • Partner with HR and training functions to develop appropriate learning content and programming.
  • Manage direct report performance ensuring aligned expectations and accountability for results.
  • Develop and sustain a Program & Project Manager Network (Community of Practice) that engages project management resources across NYL.
  • Develop and oversee strategy for PM fixed vs. variable staffing mix.
  • Manage variable staffing partner(s) agreements and performance.
  • Oversee governance and compliance to Technology Delivery Lifecycle and project management standards.
  • Perform quality checks on highest value and highest risk initiatives.
  • Stay on top of emerging standards, methods and techniques

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance or Business Administration
  • Program/Project Management Professional (PMI PMP) or equivalent certification

Preferred Level

  • Master's Degree desirable

Experience

Minimum Required:

  • Experience leading geographically distributed teams
  • Experience and familiarity with Insurance and Financial Services business systems strongly preferred
