Summer Associate Internship (Network Infrastructure Services Engineer)

2 months agoPensacola, FL

Overview

The Network Infrastructure Services (NIS) team is comprised of:

  • Campus & Data Center Engineering - Design, engineer, and initial implementation solutions for data center and campus.
  • Edge Engineering - Design, engineer, and initial implementation solutions for edge connectivity including cloud and vendor-hosted services integration

The NIS team, along with the Network Delivery Services (NDS) team, make up the Network Infrastructure and Engineering (NIE) team. This complete team is designed to allow more focus on network services by segmenting teams into infrastructure services and delivery services instead of by technology. There are new on-call rotation, engagement, and escalation procedures; thereby necessitating the need for new groups for email, ServiceNow, and on-call rotation.

The two main roles and responsibilities of NIS include:

  • Campus & Data Center Engineering
  • Responsible for engineering appropriate and flexible solutions for data center and campus environments
  • Responsible for enhancing service offerings related to data center and campus environments.
  • Responsible for documenting infrastructure for turnover to NDS teams.
  • Edge Engineering
  • Responsible for engineering edge connectivity including internet, WAN, cloud, and establishing vendor connections.
  • Responsible for enhancing service offerings related to edge environment requirements.
  • Responsible for documenting infrastructure for turnover to NDS teams.

Both roles represent dedicated architecture and engineering teams to serve Edge, Data Center, and Campus:

  • Partner with Product Strategy and development, as well as peer Engineering teams to evolve network services ahead of strategic demand.
  • Group subject matter experts on Network Engineering disciplines to collaborate and produce best-of-breed designs for implementation.
  • Focus on large projects and programs to remain isolated from operational duties.
  • Review of new and emerging technologies.

The Summer Associate will provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established NFCU standards and guidelines. The Summer Associate will help manage our Information Management Systems that monitor network services and activities.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship.
