The Senior Medical Writer, part of our Medical and Science division, is responsible for developing scientifically accurate and clinically compelling copy, strategy, and support for brand positioning and messaging. The Senior Medical Writer has overall responsibility as the Agency resource for all brand-related data, will assure medical/scientific accuracy and relevance for all deliverables, will develop scientifically grounded deliverables related to the therapeutic category, and may be assigned to other accounts, new business proposals, and pitches, as needed. The Senior Medical Writer is an engaging individual with the ability to excel at frequent interaction with clients and internal staff. The position reports to the VP, Medical Director.


  • Develop/write accurate scientific/promotional content for a range of printed and computer-based scientific materials from technical manuscripts to congress materials, interactive web projects, slide decks, white papers, and monographs
  • Review materials (eg, slide kits, medical background materials, reprint carriers, posters) to ensure that they are accurate and on strategy
  • Manage and develop team members by providing leadership, strategic support, motivation, and mentorship to aid in their career development and growth within the company
  • Act as a liaison between management, clients, and internal groups
  • Present to clients and potential clients, as needed
  • Working with leading pharmaceutical clients, you will have the opportunity to interact with some of the world’s leading scientists and physicians on critical therapeutic and scientific issues

Position Requirements


  • At least 2 years of relevant healthcare communications experience
  • Advanced degree in life science (PharmD, PhD, MD preferred; MA/MS required)
  • Superb writing skills, attention to detail, and able to think creatively
  • Ability to rapidly get up to speed on diverse therapeutic categories and clearly communicate the information in a concise, audience-appropriate manner
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Can effectively manage time, multitask, and handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (eg, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Passionate about communicating science to a variety of audiences
  • Willingness to complete a writing test
