Product Marketing Associate

About the Position:

MuleSoft seeks a highly motivated, analytical, passionate and tech savvy Product Marketing Associate to develop and execute on comprehensive strategies for market introduction of and rapid revenue growth for MuleSoft’s products and services.

The ideal candidate has keen business acumen, is ready to experiment with creative ideas to dominate markets segments in which we participate and is an articulate communicator through written, spoken and visual means. You work enthusiastically in a team environment with colleagues within and outside the immediate team to achieve company and marketing goals.


  • Develop products and solutions go-to-market strategies comprised of well-tested methods with an infusion of creative and innovative approaches
  • Create messaging and positioning which are based on defensible technical, people and business model differentiators
  • Drive market awareness by constructing and supporting well-considered press and analyst programs
  • Enable direct and indirect selling teams to articulate the differentiated story of MuleSoft’s products and solutions
  • Tell inspiring customer stories and describe the value customers achieve through the use of MuleSoft’s expertise in their business transformation initiatives
  • Discover and document value drivers for MuleSoft’s products and solutions and explicitly measure them with current customers
  • Drive new product introduction and launch activities across your products in tight collaboration with product and program management
  • Establish pricing strategies
  • Manage product communication and collateral for launches
  • Coordinate campaign activities during launches or independent of them
  • Coordinate with demand generation and field marketing teams to translate programs and strategy into measurable pipeline and closed revenue
  • Research and understand the competitive landscape and develop battle card collateral
  • Work with product management, sales, services, solutions consultants and the executive team to help prioritize market needs, product roadmaps and investment to achieve and exceed business goals

Position Deliverables:

30 Days:

  • Quickly come up to speed on MuleSoft’s current products, messaging and value props
  • Evaluate and understand competitive landscape and relative product positioning
  • Shadow product managers and sales professionals to hear customer needs
  • Learn the MuleSoft model - ARR, ACV, subscription and renewals, demand and sales funnel - MQL, SQL, SAL and close and pricing
  • Undergo MuleSoft Kickstart training for new sales and marketing professionals

60 Days:

  • Build launch plan for single product offering
  • Analyze market to identify ideal target profile
  • Author and validate key value propositions
  • Package competitive intelligence
  • Create assets in support of go-to-market activities

90 Days:

  • Launch new product to market
  • Enable MuleSoft field and partners on key messaging
  • Package assets for campaigns to build external awareness and demand

About You:

  • BS in computer science or engineering, mathematics, sciences, business or economics with some coursework in computer programming
  • 1-2 years of experience as an analyst in technology or business consulting or product marketing at a technology company a plus
  • Strong generalist business judgment combined with facility for quantitative and analytical thinking
  • High intellectual horsepower and strategic mindset, with a creative marketing instinct and exceptional execution abilities
  • High energy and drive – product marketing managers own a critical aspect of the company’s ability to win and therefore need to have the passion and energy
  • Excellent communication skills – written, spoken, and visual
  • Analytical thinking - ability to develop hypothesis, collect the data required to test the hypothesis, and deliver arguments based on analysis of the data
  • Creative and innovative thinking – willingness to take the risk, willingness to fail and learn, willingness to iterate fast
  • Keep up with and drive the fast pace of a rapidly growing startup and own your domain
  • Ability to coalesce and parse through numerous ideas and thoughts with your own viewpoints into meaningful marketing outputs
