International Tax Senior Associate

MuleSoft is building out its global tax function and is looking to recruit an experienced professional in the newly-created role of International Senior Tax Associate. Reporting to the company’s Tax Director and based at MuleSoft’s global headquarters in San Francisco, you will touch every component of our global tax function, including international tax planning, reporting, audits and compliance. You will play an instrumental and pioneering role in developing the company's overarching tax strategies and creating the necessary processes and systems to support them. 

Goals for your first three months:

30 days:

  • Gain familiarity with month-end close responsibilities related to international foreign entities, meeting the team and outside service providers
  • Understanding of our global tax structure and global footprint

60 days:

  • Manage and assist on all global tax filings
  • Assist with the preparation of the global quarterly tax provision including preparing reconciliation of the company’s foreign tax-related balance sheet accounts

90 days:

  • Master our internal process with little supervision and become the subject matter expert for queries and concerns; you will also report your analysis to senior leadership as necessary
  • Support the preparation of the company’s annual global income tax provision and related financial statement disclosures
  • Develop financial modeling in support of international tax planning and initiatives evaluation
  • Prepare insightful analytics summary for management review
  • Drive IP migration project

Beyond 90 days:

  • Be a strategic business partner, advising and supporting business teams in tax related issues, policies and procedures
  • Drive IP migration project, tax strategies and international tax planning
  • Manage the international tax provision and tax compliance process including preparation and completion of the international tax forms filed as part of the consolidated tax return (i.e. Forms 5471, 8858, 926) to ensure full compliance with US tax law; review of disclosure statements and elections related to international acquisitions, restructurings, and tax planning
  • Perform direct tax technical research including analysis and interpretation of relevant tax laws, regulations, cases and agency guidance, and update relevant stakeholders as appropriate
  • Establish key internal controls related to international tax

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 to 5 years of public accounting and/or industry accounting experience including international income tax accounting, planning and compliance
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar
  • CPA and/or Master's degree in Taxation preferred
  • Excellent international tax operations knowledge and familiarity of tax issues for a multinational company operating globally
  • Experience with ASC 740
  • Excellent organizational, technical, analytical, problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively guide and inspire a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and research programs (i.e. RIA, BNA)
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
