Head of Compensation and Benefits

Do you want to work for a Pre-IPO SaaS vendor? MuleSoft is going through a period of explosive growth and we want a Head of Compensation and Benefits who will bring industry specific knowledge to ensure we are accurately hiring and retaining employees with competitive compensation. This individual will provide technical guidance for complex global compensation packages within our 15 country office locations as we move from private to public compensation models. 

About the Position:

This role, reporting to the General Counsel, will be working across the organization with managers, executives and the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.

30 Days:

  • Look for opportunities to improve our processes that are influenced by compensation data (offer, promotion, out of cycle increases, etc)
  • Complete a job architecture project that will influence and inform our compensation decisions at MuleSoft
  • Create comp ranges for each level in each function (with People Ops)
  • You will design, implement, communicate, train and administer all of MuleSoft’s global compensation and benefits programs 
  • You’ll provide guidance and coaching to help MuleSoft leaders through individual compensation decisions

60 Days:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams in the build out of the compensation module in Workday
  • Implement benefits in all theaters (with Country Managers)

90 Days:

  • Improve and rationalize all of our compensation data and total rewards strategies (Bay Area, US, International, Executive and Equity)
  • You’ll help develop a competitive compensation philosophy, bonus programs and strategy that aligns our compensation practices to our values and our business goals

About You:

  • Solid foundation in understanding compensation strategies and best practices within the tech industry
  • Experience in a compensation position with a successful hyper-growth company in a competitive labor market
  • Effectively implemented and managed international comp and benefits (we have offices in Europe, Latin America and APAC)
  • Intellectual horsepower and good business judgment. It’s not enough to be smart - you need to have good judgment to apply your knowledge and expertise to the situation at hand
  • High velocity as things move fast around here and often you need to push projects to completion with less data than you’d like to have. We want someone that can gather enough information to be reasonable, analyze enough to build confidence and then make the decision
  • Confidence to push back on executives or your manager and others who disagree with you
  • The ability to communicate effectively and clearly with people at all levels of the organization, with a level of detail/granularity appropriate to the audience
  • Preferred experience in navigating compensation planning as a company transitions from private to public
  • Integrity as you influence the company’s single biggest line item
