Financial Analyst

MuleSoft is looking for a Financial Analyst, FP&A to work closely with the Director of FP&A and CFO in building a scalable and dynamic FP&A infrastructure at MuleSoft. FP&A at MuleSoft, working closely with the CFO, supports the company’s long-term financial plan and provides executive-level reporting to our Board of Directors, management team, and key functional heads. Our goal is to ‘moneyball’ the business and provide actionable insights that inform better decisions and help us build one of the world’s great software companies.

About the Position:

FP&A at MuleSoft is also uniquely involved in a variety of key strategic initiatives. Some examples of non-traditional projects performed by FP&A in the past include: (a) streamlining the Field organization’s analytics architecture to provide accurate and valuable insights, (b) crafting the company’s messaging to investors, (c) evaluating potential acquisition targets and (d) providing analysis used in negotiating licensing contracts with other software vendors.

Position Deliverables:

30 days:

  • You will gain an understanding of MuleSoft’s financial processes and priorities by understanding our financial models, systems, and data 

60 days:

  • You will assist in the development of the monthly forecasts, focusing on expense and cash flow management and driving towards improved forecast accuracy
  • Prepare monthly and/or quarterly reporting for Executive Staff Members by analyzing key trends 
  • Assessing and flagging current and future business risks liaise with the Accounting team and cross-functional business partners to ensure correct accounting treatment of transactional activities

90 days:

  • You will lead and support cross-organizational projects by working closely with process owners and leading data analysis efforts to identify gaps in processes/systems and implement scalable solutions to improve and automate them
  • Work on ad-hoc analyses as requested by the company’s Executive Staff members regularly streamline processes and workflows to help business leaders achieve company goals

About You:

  • 2+ years of experience in FP&A, equity research, investment banking and/or management consulting
  • Intellectual curiosity to regularly challenge the status quo
  • A “do whatever it takes” attitude to affect change within the organization
  • An ability to balance being detail-oriented as well as seeing the big picture
  • An ability to work well with a variety of personalities towards a common goal
  • Experience with Enterprise Software companies and business models is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Experience with SQL, Anaplan, Tableau, Salesforce.com, NetSuite, Workday is a plus
