Job Summary:

The Director, Senior Audit Portfolio Manager - (Global Governance and Data Strategy) position is a management role within Global Internal Audit. The role reports to the Head of Audit Intelligence and Technology Solutions (AI&TS) and is responsible for contributing to the overall strategy and implementation plan to achieve the strategic vision. The candidate will partner with senior leaders to effectively implement the Internal Audit (IA) Governance and Data Strategy Programs. The scope includes, but not limited to, IA's Technology Platform, Analytics & Automation, Data (originated and acquired) and MIS Reporting. In addition, the role is accountable for leading the change management for critical projects within the AI&TS Team, embedding change governance, team effectiveness processes, and building capabilities.

Position Attributes:

This position directly leads 3 or more direct reports. Budget management responsibilities may be assigned from time to time. Travel is required for the position, with an estimated range of 10-30% varying on the location of the candidate and key staff and stakeholder geographies.

Major Responsibilities:

This role also has the responsibility to Global Internal Audit operational effectiveness and implementation of strategies through effective governance. Here are more details:

  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage senior executive relationships (internally and externally) to mutually accountable, productive, respectful, and trusted level. (e.g., ongoing stakeholder feedback and internal surveys ).
  • Leadership: Act as a leader and role model to develop and promote a work place culture that values diversity of thought, promotes integrity and creates an atmosphere that supports coaching and fosters accountability. Engage as a team player across peer group and in influencing the Executive Leadership Team. Manage a team of managers, develop staff across the department and continuously improve self and department. (e.g., employee engagement survey, staff feedback, corporate social responsibility, personal professional development, peer and external results).
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with audit and compliance policies, while also operating within industry best practices, applicable regulations, and internal and external professional practice expectations.
  • Governance: Design and implement a centralized Governance Program with a focus on Global AI&TS initiatives. The program will drive alignment between business strategy, direction and the path forward; provide oversight and control during execution activities; help management assess the initiatives current state and adjust content and direction if necessary
  • Data Strategy: Design and implement a centralized Data Strategy specific to IA originated data and those data consumed/acquired by IA. The scope may include, but not limited to, alignment to enterprise data management policies, data quality and data/file retention of the IA GRC system, Document Repositories and IA Data Mart.
  • Agile: Champion the implementation/application of Agile principals with the goal to increase project control, reduce risks, increase the effectiveness of coordination activities and decrease the duration of execution time [time to market].
  • Conduct analysis/change impacts, partner with senior leaders and regional points of contacts to address specific team and operational effectiveness opportunities. Provides solutions that address needs with the goal of positioning AI&TS and the larger Practices Team as a global governance function within Internal Audit that enables the division to add value, meet regulatory expectations, and facilitate ongoing development of the global organization with primary focus on, but not limited to IA's technology platform, Analytics, Automation, Data and MIS reporting.
  • Help shape strategic vision and develop roadmap to implement changes needed by prioritizing enhancements to the operating model across all dimensions - people, process and technology. The roadmap could include tactical steps to address more critical items until such time as the strategic solution can be implemented.
  • Build governance and change management capabilities coordinating across and driving synergies/efficiencies across AI&TS (e.g., regional AI&S members, IT support partners, Enterprise Agile PMO organization, etc.) while effectively coordinating with the Global Internal Audit Change Management Team.
  • Provide business expertise and leadership within own and other teams; provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness of processes and programs; Foresees, identifies and resolves problems; manages vendor relationships to ensure project deliverables; monitors results on an ongoing basis against pre-determined metrics. (e.g., effectively structure and execute on objectives and initiatives across both divisions, effectively team with and run dependencies across multiple groups and regions, lead and develop change management strategies and programs across the division, demonstrable leadership and management over the strategy and execution of projects and deliverables, budget and deliverables at a high quality and demonstrable professional skepticism and personal accountability)
  • Track monitor and report on the progress of AI&TS change initiatives. Raise proactively any concerns and develop/recommend solutions that enable the program to timely and with quality consistently meet program objectives despite any challenges that arise.


Qualifications

Education and Licensure:
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related business discipline at an accredited college or university.
  • Professional auditing certifications, such as the CIA, CPA, or CFSA PMP preferred.
  • Advanced degree preferred.


Skills and Experience
  • Ten or more years of experience with program management and governance including significant management and leadership responsibilities and Internal/external audit or risk management experience preferred. Also, a shown ability to lead project teams and execute large, complex projects and deliverables.
  • Extensive experience with the financial industry and related markets, related regulatory bodies, and current industry events and trends.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of audit practices, risk assessment, audit methodology, and professional practices; global transformation projects and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards with strong knowledge and working experience with change management, operational effectiveness and business transformation.
  • Extensive experience with the financial industry and related markets, related regulatory bodies, and current industry events and trends.
  • Showed talent in technology as required for assigned areas (MS Office, audit workflow tools, audit data analytics, etc.).
  • Exhibits effective communication (both verbal and written), negotiation and presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills; and ability to engage with all levels of internal audit and business line management.
  • Employs strong critical thinking skills to identify pragmatic recommendations within an evolving and increasingly complex regulatory and risk management environment.
  • Experience interacting with the Executive Committee Leadership, control function leadership, and compliance subject matter experts.
  • Process oriented couple with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies.
  • Possesses strong project management skills; exhibits initiative and intuitive thinking; and demonstrates ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Proven managerial skills necessary to successfully administer a core support and critical regulatory relationship function within a diverse organization and effectively coordinate between multiple business and support units.
  • Possesses strong project management skills and coordination across multiple groups, preferably within global internal audit functions; exhibits initiative and intuitive thinking; and demonstrates ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Relevant experience in successfully building out and managing a team.
  • Ability to travel is required.
  • Other skills as required by the scope and operations of the assigned organization.
