Role Overview

As part of IT Hardware asset management lifecycle transformation programme across the Morgan Stanley estate we are building a team to architect, design, build and enable IT Asset Management by Process design and using ServiceNow as the platform solution.

Morgan Stanley is transforming their Hardware Asset Management (HAM) to improve tracking and management of IT hardware through the lifecycle from purchase to disposal. This will allow for IT Asset compliance and integrity, security, and visibility of the IT estate.

The HAM Transformation Lead will be expected to drive and oversee the deliverables defined in the engagement contract, ensure we focus on the agreed priorities, call out risk and issues, keep all delivery teams on track with dates and times, prepare and present steering updates and support the engagement lead, tower leads and the senior HAM program owners.

This role is supported by a Tower aligned squads. Process Architect, Process Solution BA's, Solution Tooling Architect, Scrum Master, Reporting Lead. - also supported by Process Assurance and DQ ops.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage the overall solution delivery across the firm's strategic assets management tooling platforms and asset data models.
  • A strong focus on technical delivery oversight across multiple development teams and process architects.
  • Overseeing day to day development pipelines and weekly release schedules across HAM platforms.
  • Manage escalations relating to solution delivery, these include supporting platform architecture and data architecture approvals, security design approvals and SDLC management.
  • Day to day oversight of solution delivery teams across both MS (HAM team, ESM teams, Asset owning tools teams and external partners)
  • Need to keep senior program owners on point with key issues and priorities, helping decisions to be called early or escalated further.
  • Understand the commercials, scope, activities, and deliverables for the current engagement.
  • Day to day management of a transformation project including reporting, management of risks and issues, team and supplier management, managing, tracking and reporting of the project budget.

Build and maintain the delivery plan ensuring scope, time, cost, resourcing, and schedule are aligned with deliverables and outcomes.
  • To develop and manage the end-to-end project delivery plan, including the proactive monitoring of progress to plan, and processes to secure inputs from workstream / senior leads
  • Own the tower relationship and objectives of ITAM HAM lifecycle transformation for that tower in support of the overall ITAM HAM lifecycle scope.
  • Deliver against agreed scope of process and tooling change for HAM lifecycle across all assets owning functions at MS. Covering all applicable HAM business processes (Demand, Procure, Store, Operate and Decom/Dispose).
  • Build, maintain and improve working relations with the tower leads and the process owning managers. Regular meetings and updates are required to ensure transparency, progress updates, highlighting of risk and issues, especially where these could affect timelines. Priority calls will need to be made, and conflict resolution may need to be managed.
  • Maintain the delivery plan ensuring scope, time, resourcing, and schedule are aligned with deliverables and outcomes.
  • Support the defined and agree the scope of delivery (process design and tooling design outcomes) and securing its sign off by key stakeholders.
  • To develop and manage the end-to-end tower delivery plan, including the proactive monitoring of progress to plan, and processes to secure inputs from workstream / senior leads.
  • Day to day management of the engagement including reporting, management of risks and issues, team and supplier management, managing, tracking and reporting of the progress against the milestone plans.
  • Update weekly and monthly ITAM HAM and Steerco calls for your tower on notable progress, risk and issues


  • Skills & Qualifications
    • Strong understanding of Infrastructure technologies and environments.
    • Experience of building, managing and driving CI/CD development across multiple platforms and Integration activities.
    • Large scale agile activities across multiple platforms with a focus on common data service model for Hardware Asset Management.
    • Knowledge in planning and delivery of IT and business change projects
    • Experience in managing hybrid teams to in delivering results on time and on budget.
    • Solid experience of dealing with stakeholders across multiple business units
    • 10+ years' experience in IT services, IT strategic projects or corporate transformation initiatives - IT related is required.
    • Experience in picking up projects at all stages of the project lifecycle.
    • Experience in both Waterfall and Hybrid AGILE iterative / incremental delivery frameworks
    • Demonstrate experience in multinational/multicultural projects.
    • Broad knowledge and experience in PMO: project planning, business planning, effective reporting and project controls, risks, and issues management
    • Analytical skills and capacity to synthesize information, spreadsheet & analytic skills.
    • Strong orientation to results, eager for achievement.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation and coaching skills, cultural sensitivity
    • Strong written verbal communication skills
    • Management of time pressure priorities
    • Excellent organisation and planning skills.
    • Certified in a project management qualification (e.g., Prince2, APM) to a Practitioner or Foundation level.
    • Previous technical architecture skills.
    • Previous experience of running technology functions (Infrastructure or Development).
    • Previous experience of running RFI/RFPs for delivery services, ops support and transformation.
