We are looking to hire an Executive Director, based in Tokyo, to;

  • Join the highly ranked Equity Research Division within the Machinery and Industrials sector, working with the wider team to help write world-class thematic, sector and company research
  • Take ownership of primary coverage of a range of single-stock names across the sector, including Factory Automation, General Machinery and Conglomerates .
  • Provide insightful and differentiated company and sector analysis, and write reports aligned with the themes defined as part of Morgan Stanley firm-wide strategy.
  • Provide continuous and wide-ranging proactive live interactions with clients, and achieve top rankings in Broker Reviews and external surveys.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • At conferences and events, proactively invite speakers, conduct engaging panel discussions either individually or together with colleagues, and plan and execute field trips.
  • Perform value-add analysis and interpret data on market and economic events to identify and describe trends
  • Based on Morgan Stanley's Core Values, propose, formulate, and execute team strategies, while supporting the development and growth of team members.


Skills Required
  • Equity Research or Investment Banking experience within Machinery and Industrials , including coverage of the sub-sectors detailed above is essential
  • Fluency in English and Japanese is essential
  • Demonstrable capability to deliver a top rated franchise and existing evidence of having fostered strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Proven experience of financial modelling and evaluating companies
  • A fantastic attitude and commitment to deliver the best service to clients
  • Proven track record of coordinating and collaborating with global colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, both written & verbal
  • A genuine interest in the markets, thematic trends and stocks specifically relating to the Machinery and Industrials space
  • A high level of professional ethics and a strong commitment to compliance required when working at a global financial firm.
