Division Profile:
Wealth Management Risk is responsible for identifying, measuring, and managing the current and emerging risks of the WM division and, in coordination with WM's Business Control Units and Second Line Risk Management and Compliance, implementing control processes and procedures to mitigate risk consistent with WM's risk appetite and governance framework.
Position Summary:
Wealth Management Risk is seeking an Assistant Vice President / Vice President responsible for business management within the Office of the COO. The individual should be thoughtful and solutions-oriented, interested in operating in a dynamic environment and comfortable with engaging senior stakeholders on a regular basis. This role will be on the Wealth Management Risk COO team and will be based in New York.
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Vice President / Vice President will support Wealth Management Risk in several areas, including:
- Organization and Resource Management: Work closely with HR to manage the recruiting, new hire, talent evaluations and promotion processes for WM Risk
- Financial Analysis: Create and maintain financial analyses to facilitate budget and resource management
- Employee Engagement and Training: Facilitate recurring team meetings, trainings and special events
- Strategic Presentations: Develop strategic and operational presentations for divisional and Firm senior management
- Special Projects: Other tasks in support of the day-to-day operations of the WM Risk organization in partnership with Legal, Compliance and Finance divisions
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills:
- 4+ years' experience in risk management, financial industry and / or business management. Knowledge related to risk management and Wealth Management strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal / written communication skills with ability to tailor message to audience
- Proven ability to work across departments to influence others and build strong relationships
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and possess a strong sense of accountability / ownership
- Detail-oriented and thorough with strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Outstanding time management skills and sound judgment
- Proficiency in all Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $180,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
