Responsibilities

This leadership role will direct a team of production associates that are part of the pre-laminate structure in the LVT process. Both the Calendaring and Printing processes are sophisticated, therefore it requires a supervisor that is driven to understand the technology, savvy to use data to improve the process, and a coach to develop competent production associates. This department will be highly flexible and adjust schedules to create the right product required by the customer.

 

  • Manage the pre-laminating process which includes both the 4roll calendar and print departments, as well as extrusion operations. This part of the process creates the top layers of the final product, which then laminate to the back layers to create large panels of the LVT product.
  • Process expert for 4 roll calendar, extruder, and print line.
  • Manage and develop production associates that operate pre-laminate lines. Prepare performance reviews and performance development for hourly employees. Set goals for performance and deadlines that comply with departmental and/or company plans and vision.
  • Coordinate departmental staffing and make necessary arrangements for coverage with other shift supervisors.
  • Prioritizing the scheduled work flow of the pre-laminate departments to ensure they are meeting company performance standards, customer specification, and delivery requirements.
  • Able to work rotating shifts and share in the relief of other department supervisors to allow for vacations, training and project work to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Lead the entire pre-laminate process on off shifts.
  • Use SAP to monitor production and improve costs.
  • Manage data and results using excel and SPC software.
  • Clearly communicate the business direction of the new LVT plant, the required performance of each associate, and its challenges.

  • Manage departmental KPIs, OEE targets and improvement projects.

  • Use lean manufacturing practices to achieve department excellence in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

  • Maintain timekeeping in Kronos for hourly employees.

  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.

  • Participate in the employee’s onboarding process through engagement, coaching and mentoring.

  • Any other duties that may be assigned through management.

 

 

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

 

  • Technical Degree or adequate experience in related field
  • Working process knowledge of calendaring, printing, continuous webs, or vinyls
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing hourly associates
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, TPM, and Kaizens
  • Must be able to use data from SAP to manage production and costs
  • Must be fluent in Excel and other Microsoft suite products
  • Must be able to work in a cross functional team to design and implement continuous improvement projects
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work flexible hours
  • Able to work under pressure and in a stressful environment
  • Able to manage projects utilizing all available resources to meet budgets and deadlines
  • Must be able to troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team player with an ability to be hands on when necessary

  • Travel may be required occasionally

 Nonessential Skills and Experience:

 

  • MS Project a plus, but not required
  • SAP experience a plus (will be required to learn)

Reporting to this Position:

 

  • 4 roll and print line associates on designated shift of approximately 14
