Responsibilities

Performs a variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical preventative maintenance tasks to properly maintain production equipment as well as participate in major machine overalls and repairs.

  • Complies with all company safety rules and procedures
  • Responsible for participating in and documenting the completion of mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance tasks
  • Performs light welding and fabrication tasks
  • Follows preventative maintenance guidelines and inspection sheets
  • Works with hand, shop and power tools to accomplish tasks
  • Reads and interprets electrical and mechanical drawings to effectively identify and isolate hazardous energy sources
  • Provides a common sense approach to accomplishing preventative maintenance tasks and procedures
  • Identifies and interprets signs of imminent equipment failure
  • Uses creativity to repair equipment when proper parts are not available
  • Uses computerized systems to locate machine spare parts in inventory system
  • Understands the identification, use and application of hydraulic fluids, gear oils and lubrication
  • Uses experience to identify preventive maintenance improvements to increase PM effectiveness and efficiency
  • Performs other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain forklift license
  • Minimum 2 years machinery maintenance experience, trade specific experience or associates degree in related field
  • Overall mechanical aptitude required
  • Ability to use metal lathe and milling machine
  • Must have MIG or SMAW welding skills
  • Must have an understanding of maintenance shop tools and their use
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and perform at desired performance level
  • Ability to actively engage and perform in a team environment
  • Must possess initiative and understanding of accountability
  • This position requires the team member to work with machinery in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes and extreme temperatures.
  • Other working conditions may include working long hours and flexible shifts, including holidays
  • Required safety equipment: steel toed shoes, ear plugs, gloves, and safety glasses
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.; bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs are required
