Responsibilities

Direct the day to day operational activities of the warehouse including responsibility for key performance measurements and activity based cost controls to ensure optimum productivity and high quality service in shipping and receiving, replenishment, small packages, and LTL.

 

  • Develop and implement relevant policies and procedures for the warehouse operation as required to support the business, while maintaining inventory accountability.
  • Ensure process flow optimization, including required training and documentation, for receiving, returns, and shipping.
  • Ensure timely and accurate shipment of orders, according to schedule.
  • Responsible for implementing value-added functions required by customers including special marking and special packaging.
  • Identify and manage operational goals in alignment with the company’s key performance indicators and report results against these goals on a monthly basis.
  • Develop and implement the programs and guidelines for product security and employee safety. Ensure that employees understand and follow the guidelines.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget and effectively operate the warehouse according to the planned budget.
  • Manage employee development and training while maintaining a high level of motivation for all warehouse personnel. Responsibility for staffing, conducting performance appraisals, recommending promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc. for warehouse personnel.
  • Work with management to identify, analyze and resolve distribution operational issues.
  • Maintain accuracy of the Warehouse Management System for the distribution center.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Distribution or related business field preferred.
  • Minimum eight years of management experience in a high volume consumer goods Distribution Center.
  • Broad knowledge of and experience with industrial warehousing and product distribution functions such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, work scheduling and customer service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and successful application of sound employee relations practices including coaching and correction action.
  • Awareness of employment law and hiring practices such as: Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), diversity appreciation, etc. in order to ensure the company’s commitment to our employees and the law.
  • Experience with a Warehouse Management System preferred.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Total Quality Management principles.
  • Working knowledge of a Warehouse Management System.
  • Proven ability to manage a budget.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to function in a highly interactive team environment.
