Responsibilities

 

The Chemist will have responsibility to maximize input material quality and minimize/optimize raw material costs along with addressing manufacturing processing issues and performing continuous improvement activities. This position is responsible for product formulations, development of alternative Raw Material supply, and leadership of multidisciplinary project teams. This person will be involved in optimizing the Raw Material Variances within the manufacturing process and development and implementation of new product attributes to meet marketplace needs. 

  • Evaluate, read, optimize, translate and elaborate formulas according to market needs
  • Write procedures and methods within the lab
  • Maintain and safeguard company assets in good working condition
  • Create, update and provide reports to management
  • Manage testing of raw materials
  • Co-ordination of the TDI (Technical Development & Innovation) platform
  • Provide support on manufacturing problems related to raw materials
  • Technical product development
  • Management of direct or indirect reports as required
  • Work with Purchasing and outside vendors as needed for additional services not able to be performed within company. 
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Operations and Technical Support to facilitate production trials in DOE formats.

Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering

5 - 8 years Practical PVC formulating experience required

Experience in a manufacturing environment required

Strong analytical skills

Experience in continuous and complex industrial processes

Self-motivated

Able to work under pressure and in stressful environments

Able to work flexible hours

Able to manage people and meet deadlines

Fast learner

Trouble-shooter and problem solver

Excellent computer skills including knowledge of MS Office Professional Products

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong team player (hands on)

Commitment to company values

Strong ethics related to confidentiality and non-disclosure of IVC IP.

Able to work independently

Travel may be required occasionally
