India Content Series Creative Lead (Freelance / Contractor)

Major League Baseball is seeking an India Content Series Creative Lead to support its efforts to grow Baseball and the MLB brand in India. This position will focus on developing a new Baseball-focused premium content series in close partnership with key media and external agency partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in longer-form content production planning and creative (i.e., TV show), and deep familiarity with the Indian market. This position will be based in India and will work on a freelance / contractor basis for the remainder of 2023, with potential for extension into 2024.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with internal MLB stakeholders and India-based media and production / creative agency partners to develop a premium content series for distribution over linear television and digital platforms
  • Collaborate with media partners and production / creative agencies to design a content series concept that connects the Indian population with Baseball – showcasing our sport in a way that is culturally relevant to drive interest and future engagement with our brand
  • Articulate perspectives on target audiences and local culture; constantly look for and identify narratives and content opportunities that drive resonance with key demographics
  • Closely manage day-to-day relationships with those key external media and agency partners to drive planning and execution of the content; act as ‘on-the-ground’ MLB resource fully embedded within all aspects of this project
  • Oversee agency production planning, budgeting, and filming – providing support, resources, and perspective on behalf of and in conjunction with stakeholders at MLB (in India and NY)
  • Coordinate with other India-focused MLB resources to integrate the premium content series within a broader editorial and promotional campaign (i.e., social, ancillary content)
  • Work in an ‘agile’ manner across time zones and stakeholders, with strong and frequent communication

Key qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role for a brand, media player, studio, or creative / production agency; experience in India preferred
  • Experience working within long-form mediums (e.g., TV, film)
  • Deep understanding of the Indian market and pop culture, including trends and ‘what resonates’
  • Proven ability to navigate production planning process and see through to execution
  • Strong creative instincts, with ability to communicate ideas in a logical and clear manner
  • Attention to detail, strong time and project management skills
  • Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills & presence, open to feedback
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate time zones and potential travel
