Director, Product Design – UI/UX Connected TV

Major League Baseball Advanced Media is searching for a Director of Product Design with a strong design, strategy and leadership background who enjoys solving difficult business challenges, building and embracing the design culture at MLB well as building beautiful connected device UIs that will be used by millions of people.

You will collaborate with a passionate team and stakeholders to conceptualize, design, prototype and iterate to bring designs to life. You are a hands-on designer, a problem solver, as well as a design leader who is just as confident at creating user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes as you are at constructing and leading a talented design team. And, most importantly, you are excited about the challenge and opportunity of building the next generation of amazing baseball experiences for fans.


· Collaborate across Product, Engineering and Content teams to design interfaces for connected device products on platforms including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, iOS, Android, Samsung, PS4, Xbox and more

· Balance user research insights, business needs, innovation goals and specific platform demands to improve our products and delight our users through design

· Demonstrate a customer-obsessed mindset that spans every aspect of your work, including building out processes for gathering and applying user feedback to both your team’s designs as well as the broader Product, Engineering and Content teams

· Be hands-on to create detailed wireframes, visual design comps, user flows and journey maps to deliver holistic, end-to-end experiences for users

· Produce a bold vision and quickly and collaboratively incorporate feedback to create great design outcomes, knowing when to apply pixel-perfect attention to detail, and when to make low-fidelity sketches

· Lead, mentor and inspire a growing team of Designers, and be a design leader for partner teams and the broader organization

· Communicate conceptual ideas and detailed design rationale both verbally and visually to partners across the organization

· Contribute to the definition and scope of project timelines

· Collaborate with the entire Product Design team and participate in review sessions for other MLB projects

· Evaluate designs and provide actionable feedback to other designers in a way that deliver great outcomes for users and also helps your team to grow as designers


· 10+ years of experience designing and delivering products in cross-functional teams

· 5+ years of leadership experience

· Experience recruiting, hiring, managing, and developing a high-performing team

· Experience running product design teams that collaborate effectively with engineering managers and product leaders

· Portfolio of shipped work that highlights your impactful principal design work and project leadership

· Technically adept and familiar with UI and UX trends on CTV, iOS, Android, and the web

· Experience directing brand, visual, and user experience/product design of projects, across both web and mobile platforms

· Experience using analytics and user research to help make design decisions and the ability to balance quantitative and qualitative feedback

· Possess bold vision and passion for great design

· Ability to understand user needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into easy-to-use interfaces

· Detail-oriented and can prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

· Strong knowledge of User Experience design processes and methodology

· Ability to collaborate with others to envision and iterate on concepts

· Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools like Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision and Principle

· Knowledge of baseball, sports media and streaming a plus
