General Summary

Become part of a new design team at Michelman creating a world-class digital presence in support of our global business. The Web Developer will play a key role in ensuring a consistent, positive, relevant, and memorable user experience across multiple touchpoints, including web sites and apps, email, social media, and other channels. This position will be located in our Cincinnati, Ohio headquarters and will report directly to the User Experience Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop responsive user interfaces for web sites and web applications.

• Develop and document UI design systems and design pattern libraries.

• Collaborate with designers to translate mockups into working code.

• Integrate front end templates with content management systems.

• Integrate external services with content management systems.

• Develop responsive email templates.

• Participate in brainstorming sessions and internal critiques.

• Test sites and apps in various web, tablet, and mobile browsers.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct technical problems as needed.

• Implement improvements to the user experience based on research gathered through usability studies, internal interviews, direct customer feedback, and other methods.

• Make modifications to maintain standards compliance, accessibility, search engine optimization, and alignment with industry best practices.

• Evaluate new tools and techniques and stay abreast of the latest developments in web development.

Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Mastery of HTML and CSS.

• Strong working knowledge of Javascript & jQuery.

• Strong working knowledge of PHP and MySQL.

• Experience working with RESTful APIs.

• Experience working with content management systems.

• Strong knowledge of web standards and interaction design principles.

• Understanding of SEO fundamentals.

• Strong working knowledge of performance optimization techniques.

• Knowledge of best practices for web usability.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Strong desire to learn new skills.

• Ability to work independently, be self-driven, and to work collaboratively with teams.

• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Not Required, But Helpful

• Experience working in B2B, particularly in the manufacturing sector.

• Experience working on multilingual, international projects.

• Experience with the ProcessWire CMS.

• Skill with Python, Node, Lasso, and LESS.

Education and Experience

• 4-year degree from an accredited university.

• 4+ years working in the field.
