Job Description

The Enterprise Strategy Office (ESO) develops, implements, and drives enterprise strategy in support of our company, its customers, and other stakeholders. The scope of this group includes strategy development, strategy execution and value realization, enterprise strategic planning, risk management, and strategic venture investments in healthcare as part of our Global Health Innovation fund. Together, we identify business critical opportunities, frame and evaluate options, and ensure effective implementation and cross-functional engagement to realize impact.

Position Description:

The Senior Specialist, Strategic Insights and Analytics will be responsible for driving research and analysis that delivers critical insights across different strategy projects led by the ESO. This candidate will report to Executive Director, Strategy Development and conduct execution, analysis, and synthesis of priority assessments. This candidate will be expected to be a key data-driven, strategic partner under the guidance of the Strategy Development Team, engaging with the broader ESO and cross-functional stakeholders to address key strategic questions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct "outside-in" assessments (i.e., research and analysis covering scientific, clinical, commercial, and financial areas across companies, disease areas, products, etc. leveraging a variety of internal and external data sources) that support strategy development projects across the ESO.
  • Collectively with the Strategy Development team and collaborators, derive strategic business insights, draft synthesis, and provide actionable recommendations in a clear and compelling manner (typically in PowerPoint or Word format) based on research and analysis to guide strategy decisions.
  • Proactively monitor events and trends in the pharma industry
  • Explore new sources of data and systematize use of data sources and capabilities to conduct research and analysis.
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., competitive intelligence, data and analytics, finance) to gather data and insights.
  • Present findings to key stakeholders (e.g., VPs, SVPs) whenever opportunity exists.

Position Qualifications:

Location/Commute:

  • We offer Hybrid Work Model (combination of 2 to 3 days per week In-office & remaining days offsite/remote). This position is not 100% remote.
  • Applicant must have ability to work from either of our sites in NJ (Kenilworth or Rahway).

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA or Post-graduate degree in a scientific or engineering discipline preferred.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in pharma (e.g., business analytics, market research and competitive intelligence) and experience using both primary and secondary data sets (e.g., Evaluate Pharma, Pharma Projects) and sources (e.g., analyst reports, academic journals).
  • Proficient in working with quantitative (e.g., Excel) and qualitative tools to aid in research and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills and able to deliver insights based on data and draft compelling narrative focusing on the implications ("so-what") of the analysis.
  • Robust understanding of the pharma industry and genuine curiosity and interest in assessing the landscape on an ongoing basis and solving complex strategic problems using data
  • Demonstrate curiosity and ability to leverage data and insights from variety of sources including internal cross-functional teams
  • Strong collaborator who can think strategically and objectively, manage multiple priorities, and achieve results while dealing with ambiguity and rapid pace of change.
  • Exhibit characteristics of a continuous improvement mindset in areas of efficiency, speed and business impact

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Prior experience working in a life sciences-focused strategy / and/or management consulting experience from top-tier firms such as BCG/McKinsey/L.E.K/ Clearview/Trinity etc.

Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:
$107,600.00 - $169,400.00
