Job Summary:

The Preclinical Development (PCD) function of our Company's Research & Development Division in South San Francisco is searching for a dynamic and collaborative scientist for the Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion, Discovery Toxicology and Bioanalytics (ADMET-BA) group. The Senior Scientist will be a member of the function providing expertise as a key component of the multi-disciplinary drug discovery effort in South San Francisco, with a focus on supporting preclinical development of therapeutics of various modalities through integrated understanding of drug disposition and pharmacology.

Therapeutic areas may include immunology and oncology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, and ophthalmology. You will work within Teams of highly collaborative scientists to contribute to the characterization of novel therapeutic agents and will be accountable for independently planning and conducting in vitro/ex vivo studies to evaluate the ADME properties of multiple modalities, including small molecules, peptides, and biologics. Ideal candidates will independently interpret data, clearly present data to teams, and integrate data to inform pipeline decisions. The candidate will contribute to scientific initiative for further understanding in ADME science.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and hands on experience with in vitro and ex vivo type assays to characterize the ADME properties of targeted therapeutics including but not limited to Antibody Drug Conjugates and Peptide Drug Conjugates to guide design and enable candidate selection. The candidate will have hands on experience with bioanalytical technologies and associated informatic tools. The Senior Scientist will work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and have excellent scientific, interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

  • M.S. (with 4 years of experience) or Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemical biology, cell biology pharmaceutical sciences, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, biochemical engineering or a related discipline and relevant experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Strong background in protein/peptide characterization using biochemical and biophysical techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and performing cellular assays and techniques to evaluate internalization, localization/co-localizations etc., of therapeutics
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing and performing hypothesis-driven experiments
  • Expertise with analytical techniques and related software packages
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Team player that can closely collaborate with internal and external collaborators
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Work independently and as a team member with integrity, precision, accomplishment, motivational ambition, respect and inclusion

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Postdoctoral experience
  • Previous work in drug discovery and development
  • Previous experience in peptide chemistry and approaches to enhance peptide stability/ internalization
  • Experience in drug conjugates discovery and development
  • Previous experience in biologics bio distribution
  • General knowledge of PK, ADME and/or drug discovery concepts
  • Knowledge of PK/PD concepts and relevant software
  • High learning agility and a willingness to contribute to all levels within the ADME group
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation via a publication/presentation record
  • Comfortable with risk taking and undertaking hypothesis-driven experimentation
