UX Software Engineer

Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled software engineer, with a passion for user experience, to help us shape and realize new in-car interaction concepts for our future products.

The UX Software Engineer will work with interaction designers, user experience experts and other engineers on a wide range of implementations from interactive prototypes to optimized in-car software. In our team we aim at finding paths to bring disruptive user interaction concepts and technologies into Mercedes-Benz products.

As a UX Software Engineer you conceptualize and create software architectures and implementations for interactive prototypes and reference implementations, using modern software frameworks, e.g. Qt/QML. Cross-functional collaboration with other engineers and interaction designers will be essential to evolve ideas for new technically challenging interaction paradigms into prototyping cars, demonstration systems, and optimized implementations within a larger UI framework.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction or related field
  • Hands-on experience with user interface software technologies, UI frameworks, UI prototyping tools; e.g. Qt/QML
  • Experience with object-oriented software architectures and design, e.g. C
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing project priorities and constraints.
  • Ability and willingness to work in inter-cultural, inter-disciplinary teams, across multiple time zones.
  • Open to travelling around 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in Linux, C , Javascript, Qt/QML is a plus
  • Experience with voice interaction or camera-based interaction technologies is a plus
  • Experience and interest in the automotive industry is a plus
