This position’s primary purpose consists of designing, building and maintaining prototype vehicle systems for Future Transportation Systems projects, including all operational aspects such as managing the FTS workshop. Furthermore, this role is responsible for a structured and methodologically sound moderation of a rapid prototyping process in the ideation phase of FTS projects.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Design and construction of virtual and physical prototypes for Future Transportation Systems.
Prototype management for vehicle systems built and tested during Future Transportation Systems, specifically during the following stages: idea generation, hardware component supplier coordination and field test vehicle management
Screening of the North American supplier industry for vehicle and logistics systems components, e.g. shelving systems and sensors.
Work with internal business partners at Mercedes-Benz to drive key technology insights and to derive implications for MB vehicle development projects.
Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Engineering
Ability to visualize ideas and translate them into physical prototypes (includes sawing, welding etc.
Previous work in the upfitter industry, skills in working with CAD systems, rapid prototyping.
