Engineering Intern - OBD Validation & Documentation

The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor, MI and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad, CA complete the competence center.

Desired Start: March 2017, 6 months

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Validate implemented requirements in an HiL and/or vehicle environment (gasoline and/or electrified powertrain components)
  • Understand and interpret OBD-regulations for different markets (California, Europe, Rest of World)
  • Validate implemented requirements in an HiL and/or vehicle environment (gasoline and/or electrified powertrain components)
  • Document and Communicate detected issues to controls and calibration experts
  • As needed, work with colleagues to determine root cause of functional

Skills & Attributes:

  • Familiar with conventional and alternative Powertrain systems
  • Basic knowledge of Mercedes-Benz vehicle measurement, calibration tools
  • Basic experience in On Board Diagnostic (OBD) development (desired)
  • Basic knowledge of on-board systems development tools such as MATLAB. Basic knowledge of CAN, LIN and FlexRay

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Automotive, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs, email clients, and databases
  • Knowledge of the German language is a plus
  • The candidate must be a pro-active individual and a self-starter
  • Project management skills are a plus

Special Skills Required:

  • Valid driver’s license
