Role Overview:

  • The Embedded Systems Engineer will develop software and device drivers for infotainment applications proof-of-concepts and support generation of systems’ level requirements. Additionally this engineer will interface to Apple and Google test teams to support certification programs.
  • Conceptualize, prototype and support the software development of embedded Telematics solutions including advanced engineering development of software modules targeting next generation telematic platforms.
  • Interact with internal customers, vendors and external organizations to stay current in the topic area and identify innovation opportunities.
  • Work with business leads and engineering specialists to identify, capture and define system requirements.
  • Setup and maintain test benches, test vehicles and test equipment including regular software updates.
  • Coordinate regular meetings and manage issue list between other Daimler departments and consumer device vendors.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience developing in C/C and Linux on embedded evaluation boards with Linux based board support packages
  • Strong hands-on electro-mechanical prototyping skills, for example, creation of wiring harness, integration of demo platforms.
  • Experience using online tools for collaboration, issue tracking and code version control
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, recognizes and explains connections between cause-and-effect understandably and develops concrete, viable solutions taking risks and obstacles into account
  • Ability to manage competing project priorities and constraints. Ability to work in inter-cultural, inter-disciplinary teams, across multiple time zones

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PCIe and configuration of ports and interfaces on SoCs/MCUs.
  • Experience with electrical schematic and PCB layout.
