Cultural Proficiency Training Manager

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Manage Diversity Council and Employee Resource Groups; develop Diversity & Inclusiveness learning and outreach resources; create and facilitate Diversity & Inclusiveness trainings; collaborate in internal and external projects and committees; build and sustain rapport, credibility, and opportunity in the communities we serve.

STARTING SALARY: $60,000 – $65,000



Training is approximately 1/3 of the work duties for this position. The CPTM is responsible for creating and facilitating Diversity & Inclusiveness trainings in a variety of formats, including roundtable discussions, traditional "stand and deliver" talks, and hands-on workshops. Mastery of Diversity & Inclusiveness content is essential, as is a presentation style that is both highly-engaged and highly-engaging. Comfort and confidence in connecting with any size group in any setting, as well as with interacting with media and technology is key.

Organizational Culture & Collaboration:

Contribute to an organizational culture of respect, hope, and personal accountability regarding Diversity & Inclusiveness.

Promote cultural proficiency in all aspects of the organization's functions and programming.

Create opportunities to engage employees in cultural conversations, self-exploration, and intentional practice re: the lived experiences of consumers, co-workers, and community members. Encourage an environment in which staff is comfortable engaging in discussions about "-isms" and feel equipped to problem-solve in situations involving these issues.

Participate in the development of culturally-proficient evaluation and treatment outcomes measures.

Assist with program development and grant-writing to secure funding for organizational programming.

Assist Human Resources and other managers with staff recruitment and retention.

Provide Diversity & Inclusiveness consultation, mediation, and professional development to all directors and managers.

Assist Human Resources in the investigation of alleged staff misconduct relating to discriminatory, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate behaviors towards co-workers or consumers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Community Outreach & Engagement:

Establish effective working relationships with local academic institutions for the purpose of enhancing the workforce through innovative and jointly-developed opportunities.

Establish and maintain relationships with local organizations to strengthen MHCD's relationships, support, and collaboration within the community. Serve as a liaison to community resources.

Actively enhance the organization's link to information and resources for members of underserved and underrepresented communities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience directly related to Diversity & Inclusiveness is required. Some college coursework and/or Bachelors Degree preferred.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach, operate standard office equipment such as phone, computer, facsimile, copier/printer/scanner, and other business machines. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.
