Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Fellowship – Solid Tumor Medical Oncology

3+ months agoNew York, NY

Company Overview

At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we’re not only changing the way we treat cancer, but also the way the world thinks about it. By working together and pushing forward with innovation and discovery, we’re driving excellence and improving outcomes.  We’re treating cancer, one patient at a time. Join us and make a difference every day.

In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.  Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.

*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19.  Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.

The MSK APP Fellowship Background

The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s (MSK) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship program provides Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants the opportunity to train at one of the top cancer centers in the United States. This Fellowship Program began over 40 years ago in Hospice and Palliative Care with one APP Fellow and now accepts over fifteen APP Fellows in six distinct disciplines. The Fellows are mentored by an interdisciplinary team of experienced oncology clinicians serving patients from around the world.

The MSK APP Fellowship Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide an oncology-intensive postgraduate academic program for the APP that promotes collaborative, high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate patient-centered care to a diverse patient population in alignment with the institutional mission of MSK. The MSK APP Fellow will participate in clinical skills practicums, research, didactic learning, and clinical rotations on medical and surgical oncology and consultative services. Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Fellowship – Solid Tumor Medical Oncology

The APP fellow will train in medical oncology practices through an educational context and autonomously manage complex medical oncology patients. The program consists of rotations throughout the medical oncology services, primarily inpatient focused along with outpatient emphasis, with an elective component and specialty rotation as well as didactic educational opportunities through the program. The core curriculum consists of 38 weeks of rotation through the solid tumor services including inpatient, outpatient, and associated multidisciplinary teams. The APP fellow will complete a six-week elective component focusing on three different sub-specialties of interest, followed by a four-week clinical specialty rotation of their interest. The APP fellows will have dedicated didactic education weekly and time to focus on projects, case studies, and research interests.
