Contacts Research Manager

We are an industry-changing Software (SaaS) service used by publishers to help them run their business more profitably. It's like Bloomberg for the publishing industry. With over 1,500 customers, MediaRadar is already used by many of the largest national titles in both digital and print. This includes household names such as ESPN, TIME Inc., Vogue, Elle, The Economist, Glamour and Esquire.

Are you a detective at heart? Can you mentor a team of sleuths? Our Research Manager will lead our Contacts department and reports directly to the VP of Operations. He or she collaborates with other members of the Production Leadership Team and other departments within MediaRadar. The Contacts team is responsible for finding information on marketing contacts and agencies, and verifying existing information in the system- all in the service of keeping our Contacts database up to date and our clients on top of their game!

What you'll do:

  • Supervise a team of 6 Research Associates, managing workload within the team and maintaining agility and flexibility to quickly respond to client requests or company needs
  • Manage Research Associates' development on research best practices and proper data entry methods
  • Lead response to ongoing and ad-hoc concierge research requests
  • Monitor new entries to database for errors and inconsistencies in order to maintain the highest quality standards
  • Create and send out regular verification mail merges
  • Track advertising news for relevant agency and account developments
  • Monitor client and trial usage logs for actionable insights
  • Monitor the collection of headquarter information, logos and social media handles; this includes managing inbound requests and adjusting priorities as necessary
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Research Associates to address business & production policy, projects, and skills enhancement
  • Partner with Sales and Client Services to ensure project alignment according to Client needs
  • Partner with the other Production teams and Departments to guide products through Production, resolve problems, and resolve quality issues
  • Assign and monitor outside vendors as necessary to complete specific work and adjust priorities or escalate when appropriate
  • Create and execute process improvement projects with an emphasis on efficiency, quality and business impact
  • Create policy and process documentation to establish and clarify policy and processes within Data Intake functions
  • Contribute towards the achievement of company's strategic and operational objectives
  • Improve performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategiesPerform new marketing contact research based on requests by Research Manager
  • Make necessary changes to existing contact database
  • Input results of regular mailings and pro-actively question respondents
  • Phone verify dated contacts
  • Perform ad hoc database audits


What you'll need:

  • Work experience in advertising is preferred
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of client usage using proprietary tools and MS Office to forecast future demand and/or client behaviors
  • Self-starter who is well organized and is an effective proactive leader and communicator who takes the initiative in meeting personal, departmental, and corporate goals
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven working experience as operations manager
  • Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Basic IT skills (databases, MS Office etc)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Leadership and organizational skills
