Internal Communications Manager

The Role

  • The job of the Internal Communications Manager is to build, create and manage a consistent and strategic approach to communications for all Medallia employees (more than 1,000 people globally).
  • Communications touch points include email, events, video conferences, signage, digital displays, Intranet (e.g., Loop), and more.
  • This position requires flexibility, positivity, fearlessness and a sense of humor. The ideal person has a combination of technical skills and creative skills - someone who can just as easily write a 350-word blog post as well as quickly manage basic Web publishing tasks.
  • Strategic Assessment and Recommendations:
  • Increase transparency and communication for Medallia employees via various channels
  • Work cross-functionally with People & Culture, IT, Executive Team, Marketing and Creative to create high-quality, focused communications in various formats
  • Assess existing tools and processes and develop a new plan for improvement across both digital tools (e.g., Loop, which is the Intranet) and in person events (e.g., Company Meetings)
  • Provide support for company-wide announcements and set strategy for specific channels to determine which announcements are best for which audiences via specific channels
  • Collaborate with People and Culture, PR, Creative and other teams on messaging, look and feel, and creating the Medallia ‘voice’ to nurture a positive and inspiring environment for employees
  • Measure the impact via NPS, surveys and other fun tools (text message surveys during the event) and set goals for improvements (NPS improvements over time)

Responsibilities

  • Create excitement around Loop and ensure a steady stream of new content
  • Assist, inspire and train 40 employee ‘store’ owners from each department
  • Unearth positive and timely ‘nuggets of news’ and post content daily
  • Increase usage, engagement and traffic
  • Manage basic Web publishing tasks (mantles, polls, permissions)
  • Support existing company meetings and ensure a regular cadence of exciting events
  • Develop themes and talking points, including a 6-month calendar of company events, Fireside Chats, and Global Huddles
  • Assist in messaging and slide development with Creative team as needed
  • Support executives on special events and projects as needed
  • Send weekly or daily emails, post-event surveys, reminders, and prepare post-event recaps with participation numbers
  • Get creative about new and engaging ways to present useful and relevant information to employees
  • Company-wide email moderationReview and manage company-wide emails on a daily basis
  • Digital signage
  • Manage process for TV monitors in offices globally to ensure creative and inspiring content
  • Other duties as needed
  • Maintain a flexible attitude for ad hoc projects and issues from positive announcements to special events
  • Assist other teams on special projects as needed

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5-6 years of experience in internal communications in a corporate setting
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with web publishing and slide development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record building an internal communications program from the ground up
  • Proficiency with Jive (software Intranet program)
  • Working in a highly complex organization with a variety of internal stakeholders
  • Graphic design skills a plus
