HRIS Analyst

The Role:
As a Workday HRIS Analyst, you will drive the technology and business processes of our People and Culture team, providing tools and analysis to HR Operations, Total Rewards and other Business Operations at Medallia.  Medallia launched Workday in August 2015 with a solid foundation, and now we are in the process to expand and support our current implementation.  The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong background in Workday, excellent time-management and organizational habits, and the ability to clearly communicate and present information.


  • Reporting and analysis - you'll build new reports and optimize existing ones in Workday, but you'll also help developing tools for People and Culture, and IT Business Applications teams to power their work
  • Business partnering - work closely with People and Culture leaders, other Medallia teams, and external vendors to define our business processes and understand their requirements, then use Workday to optimize their workflow
  • Project management - as you identify Medallia teams requirements and put plans in place, you will own projects from start to finish, ensuring all teams involved are delivering high-quality results quickly and on time
  • Special projects/ad hoc analyses - new initiatives, products, risks, and opportunities are constantly arising. You will help evaluate and drive these important initiatives

About You:

  • You look for creative ways to solve the root problem rather than treating the symptoms and react as they surface
  • You are comfortable with adapting quickly to new information and priorities
  • You have a strong appetite for troubleshooting problems that have never been seen before, and you're proactive about learning Workday at a deep level
  • You're self-driven. We look for people we can trust with a lot of autonomy to get things done

Critical Competencies:

  • 3+ years in a HRIS, Workday Consultancy or Human Resources Operations environment, at either a tech start-up or a large, well-established company
  • Exceptional Workday skills on Report Writer, Business Process configuration, and Security. HCM work is second-nature to you, and you’re looking to apply your skills in more complex projects
  • Proven experience building Calculated Fields and setting up EIBs. You have used creative ways to solve integration or automation requirements
  • Demonstrated and strong business acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and relationship building skills - numbers are important, but a business is built with people
  • Positive team player, organized and problem solver. You have the ability to manage multiple requests yet stay focused on delivering top priorities
