A Director ofCommunity Engagement is a dynamic and creative fundraiser responsible forsecuring and growing new income, developing relationships with major sponsors,and working to expand MDA's business including but not limited to MDA's coreCommunity Engagement programs such as Fill the Boot, Muscle Walks, Lock Up's,etc. The Director of Community Engagement will be part of the Districtleadership team and will work with the Executive Director to ensure incomegrowth in the market. Reports to the Executive Director and works closely withall levels of the MDA Team.


  • Responsible for effectively andefficiently completing activities and meeting target deadlines in order to meetfinancial goals and execute successful Community Engagement events, such as Fillthe Boot and/or Muscle Walks within the district business plan.
  • Execute individual business plan toexceed revenue goals and quotas specifically related to growth and new incomesources.
  • Identify and execute best practicesthat result in growth of event revenue in alignment with income plans; drivesbest practices and encourages innovation in community programs.
  • Create fundraising opportunities throughvarious development techniques including prospecting, targeted follow-up, andnew lead generation.
  • Deliver organized, structured, andpersuasive presentations, to current/former/potential partners using effectivewritten and verbal communication.
  • Represent MDA throughout the communityand actively engage in networking events and business development groups.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director andFundraising Team to develop a district wide fundraising strategy, timelines andgoals with concentrated focus on Community Engagement programs such as Fill theBoot, Muscle Walks, and Lock Up's.
  • Develop new programs that engage community leaders and key influencers inraising revenue for MDA
  • Manage fiscal accountability, followingthe district business plan, including providing accurate monthly projections toExecutive Director.
  • Build relationships and accountabilitysystems to ensure supporters are engaged and our mission is clearlyarticulated.
  • Oversee and participate in the executionof major fundraising programs such as MDA's Muscle Walk, Lock-Ups, Fill theBoot, Golf Tournaments, Pin Up's, Social Events and other community basedfundraising and Family Support activities such as clinics, MDA Summer Camp,support group and other service programs.
  • Manage expenses tied to CommunityEngagement events, seeking to grow efficiencies and economy, wherever possible.
  • Perform other duties or special projectsas needed.

  • Bachelor'sdegree (Business or Non-Profit Management preferred) and three to five years ofdemonstrated fundraising, sales and business development experience with atrack record of successfully meeting quotas and surpassing expectations orequivalent combination of education and work experience in sales and/orfundraising.
  • Ability towork independently and have high personal expectations of work product.
  • Ability totravel throughout District's territory as well as work evenings/weekends asnecessary. Use of personal vehicle in the course of employment is needed totravel throughout the district. Significant local travel is required for thisposition; including visiting local business, sponsors, health care facilities,and events in public places.
  • Ability tomanage budgets closely, both in income and expense.
  • Strongcomputer skills and ability to use existing technology to achieve desiredresults
