Position Description:

The Associate Director of Family Support & Clinical Carewill report to Director of Family Support & Clinical Care. The primary roleof this position is to lead implementation of MDA's clinical, education, summercamp and family engagement programs. This individual will manage and lead ateam of Family Care Specialists. The Associate Director of Family Support& Clinical Care will be responsible for maintaining and growingrelationships with MDA Care Center personnel and institutions throughout theirterritory, and will co-direct at least one camp session annually.


  • Lead, train and manage Family Care Specialists in territory (i.e. training, goal setting, accountabilities, approving PTO requests, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Attend clinic in home market regularly and other territory clinics on a quarterly or semiannual basis.
  • Maintain and grows relationships with MDA Care Centers/host institutions in territory; organizes clinic team meetings in collaboration with regional Director of Family Support & Clinical Care.
  • Work with local stakeholders on MDA's National Advocacy Initiatives
  • Work with local families to provide local educational advocacy for families by providing support to educators, IEP plans and classroom education
  • Staff lead on larger educational events for families (Muscle Summits and other)
  • Ensure effective training about and implementation of clinical, education, summer camp, transition and family engagement programs
  • In collaboration with district teams, assists in recruitment of families for Muscle Walk
  • Co-direct at least one camp session annually (requires overnight stays at camp for up to one week);
  • Assist with camp planning/prep (such as medical staff and counselor recruitment; informing families at clinic)
  • Oversee the budget and annual planning for districts in the territory
  • Responsible to oversee coverage during Family Care Specialist vacancies & PTO
  • Establish and maintain effective partnership with Divisional Directors and Executive Directors throughout territory

  • An undergraduate degree in a social services or health-related field is preferred. Advanced degree in a related field is desired.
  • Previous experience in voluntary health organizations or related field strongly preferred.
  • Successful track record in strategic planning, program implementation, consensus building and relationship building.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel and navigate geographically-diverse markets. Overnight travel will be required. Travel percentage varies based on territory. Reliable transportation required.
  • Experience in supporting Division/District offices in their development efforts.
  • Comfortable interacting with families from diverse disability, cultural and economic backgrounds within a semi-medical environment.
