Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mining degree from a Tier 1 college
  • 4-6 years of professional experience in the mining industry, with a focus on either underground hard-rock mining or ore processing
  • Experience working in a rapidly growing business with an entrepreneurial spirit, autonomy, and a keen interest in taking action to build the business in a start-up environment
  • Prior experience of anchoring client engagements independently.
  • Proficiency in basic business software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint); statistical or database experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin/Cantonese

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You'll work with our MineLens team in Shanghai/Beijing. MineLens is part of McKinsey Solutions and McKinsey's New Ventures.

MineLens provides mining companies with the strategic business intelligence they need to identify, quantify, and prioritize value creation opportunities in their operations. It combines advanced analytics, a comprehensive database of mining performance benchmarks, and global mining expertise. MineLens enables clientsto assess and improve labor productivity, equipment effectiveness, and reduce costs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll conduct assessments with respect to improvement opportunities and actions and deliver recommendations to senior clients and front line managers.

You'll participate in new business development to generate new clients and maintain existing clients. You'll assist client in data collection, perform quantitative analysis of client data, and incorporate qualitative observations.

You'll direct analysts to generate reports based on benchmarks and site observations. You'll participate in new product development of innovative approaches to mining data analytics and be up-to-date with latest industry trends and competitor offerings.
