Institutional Investor Alliance Manager
- Advanced Degree in a business related discipline
- 5+ years of experience including 3+ years of experience as generalist consultant, including leading substantial workstreams and/or engagements
- Entrepreneurial spirit, comfort with ambiguity, ability to thrive in an emerging and fast-changing environment
- Experience and or expertise in the Institutional Investor industry is preferred
- Ability to deliver high-quality results, demonstrating creativity and flexibility
- Strong communications and synthesis skills
- Training and/or experience in statistics and/or analytics would be helpful
- Willingness to travel ~20% of the time
Who You'll Work With
You'll be based in Toronto and work with our Global Institutional Investor (II) team managing our alliance with 3rd party partners. Our II team is part of McKinsey's Private Equity and Principal Investor Practice (PEPI).
The Institutional Investing Alliance combines McKinsey's value proposition with 3rd party data allowing us to better serve our clients through distinctive diagnostic and transformational engagements, combined solution offerings and an expanded breadth of knowledge and research.
McKinsey's PEPI practice is the world's leading advisor to the Private Equity and Principal Investor industry. We work with investors of all types: PE firms, distressed debt/credit investors, real estate, and infrastructure firms, as well as the institutional investors these alternative investment managers serve, including pensions, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and endowments. We serve these clients across the deal cycle, assisting with deal identification, due diligence, and portfolio company operational improvements, as well as on firm-level topics including strategy, governance, and operations.
What You'll Do
You will be part of the Institutional Investor (II) leadership team and will work to shape, grow, and manage the partnership with our benchmarking partners.
You will act at the intersection of the Alliance and the Private Equity and Principal Investor Practice (PEPI) leadership, dealing directly with our partners on client development, client engagement, product development, research, and publication.
You'll work closely with leadership to design a clear go to market strategy for this set of capabilities. You will be responsible for advocating for the Alliance developing and executing a best-in-class outreach and dissemination plan to create excitement internally and with clients. You will design and execute on a clear product development roadmap to expand offerings and a knowledge and insight development plan.
Working closely with leadership, you will develop and execute a clear knowledge agenda for the Alliance contributing to knowledge development efforts in conjunction with McKinsey consultants. You will participate in problem-solving sessions with II leadership, partnership leaders, client representatives as well as McKinsey consultants on a regular basis.
You will be responsible for leading the relationship with the partnership and coordinate communication between McKinsey consultants, the partnership manager, and the governance bodies. You will lead and manage the operational functions of the Alliance initiating best practices.
