Data Analyst - Panorama, McKinsey Solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics or Finance or related field; Master's degree is a plus
  • Experienced user of Excel and strong VBA knowledge
  • Familiarity with Tableu is an advantage
  • Programming knowledge, experience in SQL/T-SQL or other relational database
  • Comfort working independently in developing creative solutions to team needs, while maintaining effective, consistent coordination and communication with a global team across multiple time zones
  • Basic understanding of banking economics
  • Strong analytical capability, dedication to data accuracy, outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and keep deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hungarian

Who You'll Work With

You'll work with our Panorama team in Budapest and with our Performance Lens team located in New York and Delhi. Both teams are part of McKinsey Solutions and McKinsey's New Ventures.

Panorama harnesses a blend of banking and financial data sources, including proprietary McKinsey data, to help clients identify opportunities, improve their financial planning, or benchmark their performance. Performance Lens for Wealth & Asset Management is a McKinsey Solution that provides fact-based, actionable insights to improve asset managers' business performance by combining industry-leading data, analytics, and tools with McKinsey's deep asset management expertise. Performance Lens can help clients to make better strategic growth and resource allocation decisions, to assess operational effectiveness, and to bring investment-like discipline to evaluating the effectiveness of sales and marketing.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for a range of information gathering and processing tasks, supporting a flagship McKinsey proprietary knowledge effort, focusing on the global banking industry.

Your key focus would be to support data updates and to ensure consistency in complex file structures, involving data files of significant size. You will be asked to develop smaller databases, related algorithms in VBA, SQL or other programming languages. You will be expected to cooperate with global research teams as well as with senior analysts both in improving and expanding the existing database, and in serving some of the world's major financial institutions.
