Job Description

What is the purpose of this role?

To oversee and lead sustainable construction for:

▪ Development of new restaurants

▪ Capital reinvestment projects in existing restaurants.

What team will I be part of?

You will be a part of the Construction Department and will have responsibility for deployment of reinvestment and/or new build projects across the UK & Ireland. The Reinvestment Team is responsible for undertaking refurbishment and improvement projects of existing leasehold and freehold properties on both company owned and franchised restaurants, working closely with multiple functions within the McDonald's corporate team The New Build team is responsible for the end to end process of new restaurants and delivery kitchen deployment, working closely with the Acquisitions team, McDonald's approved contractors and consultants, and relevant local and national authorities

Who will my customers be?

• Franchisees

• Corporate functions including Construction, Acquisitions, Estates and Supply Chain

• External stakeholders, such as UKGBC

What will my key accountabilities be?

• Managing external sustainable construction consultants and suppliers

• Ownership of the sustainable construction plan for McDonald's UK & I

• Overseeing the rollout of sustainable energy initiatives such as PVs, EVs and wind turbines

• Managing the removal of gas from existing restaurants alongside our Restaurant Solutions Group colleagues

• Champion sustainable construction through continuous research, test and deployment

• Ensuring all future freehold new builds comply with our promise of net zero carbon from 2023

• Ensuring all furniture packages for 2023+ reimages are compliant with our sustainable construction promise

• Represent Development in the Plan for Change working group

• Communicating and engaging with the development team for all elements of sustainability

• Be the expert on sustainable building techniques, championing further innovation with new build and reinvestment projects

• Providing the Acquisitions team with information relating to our sustainable buildings to assist with planning applications 3

• Understanding biodiversity & water neutrality and how we can manage them in our developments

• Engaging with authorities to keep up to date with changes to policy in relation to sustainable building

Qualifications

What background do I need to have?

• Minimum 3 years' experience in sustainable construction.

• Member of relevant professional institute - RICS/CIOB/APM

• Excellent stakeholder management skills.

• Strong relationship building sills.

• Strong negotiation and communication skills

• Influencing skills
