The Opportunity:
We are currently looking to hire a permanent Sr. Finance Associate of Banking in our Mattel Global Shared Services (MGSS) East Aurora office. This role reports to the MGSS Banking Regional Lead in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
The role is responsible for oversight of our end-to-end Banking processes and will work closely and daily with other team members in our three shared service centers based in East Aurora, Amstelveen, and Penang, as well as working with our Outsourced Service Provider based in India.
This role requires someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment; where creativity, collaboration, and strategic thinking are the norm.
The applicant must be a good problem solver, results focused, detail oriented, and process disciplined so that there are no disruptions in our daily deliverables or data integrity errors in our liability reporting.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Supervision of activities performed by the Regional Team (both onshore and offshore):
- A customer facing role working as part of a global team, ensure an on-going emphasis on client service and satisfaction
- Daily contact with the Offshore Team to support the processes performed by the MGSS, ensuring SLA terms are met/adhered to, establishing priorities and deadlines.
- Assist MGSS Banking Colleagues in the two other MGSS Regions in times of absence / increased workload
- Liaison with other work streams such as Accounts Payable to ensure timely and accurate recording of payments, rejections and returns
- Regular contact / Relationship Management with our internal stakeholders to resolve issues relating to Banking
- Oversight and Support of Month End Processes; Reconciling Bank Balances to General Ledgers, validating that month end accounted cash positions are reflected accurately with full explanation on any reconciling differences
- Resolve escalated unaccounted items by follow up, investigation, escalation etc.
- Clear unreconciled items based on information provided Performing both internal and external Business Controls; Month End closing Sox Controls as an example
- Support of Credit Card Receivable Processes for the North America Region, validating that month end accounted positions are reflected accurately with full explanation on any reconciling differences
- Monitoring and / or Processing of payments for the Region directly in the Treasury Management System & ERP system based on underlying request within agreed timelines
- Working with our Corporate Banking Partners in the region for a resolution on any queries that are raised. (Payment Resolution, Remittance Confirmation etc.)
- Regional Cash Management
- Support the preparation of Regional Cash Balances with appropriate actions being taken based upon the Regional Lead’s direction
- Preparation of Regional Bank Charge Analysis; submitting Regional Charge Analysis to the Regional Lead.
- Participation in MGSS projects
- Participation and leading MGSS projects including NGF to transform our existing system
- Assist, guide and train BU’s, MGSS teams & BPO with the resolution of any process, transactional, and technical issues.
This role requires:
- The ability to lead and empower team members effectively
- To perform root cause analysis and implement strategies to ensure activities are performed timely and accurately the first time.
- Being able to pivot easily to address business critical needs
- Provide direct input into MGSS roadmap, including the intended execution timelines
- To be part of a team that launches new technologies that will automate and standardize our global processes, helping us meet our corporate objectives
- Identify other key areas of improvement within the organization to drive additional efficiencies
- Review and updates to our existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and appropriate training/knowledge transfer of all staff members as required
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance and/or Accounting (or equivalent work experience) and 3+ years in related work experience
- Fluency in English (written & spoken) and one other European language is a plus
- Microsoft Office Skills, Excel, Access, etc.
- Knowledge, insight, and interest in financial administrative & accounting processes
- Experience in working with Oracle is a plus
- Experience in working in a Shared Services organization with an offshore BPO partner
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people and skill sets across multiple time zones
- Influencing skills & flexibility
- Strong problem-solving skills, and confident to recommend innovative solutions
- Strong organizational skills / ability to prioritize
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Possesses excellent demonstrated customer interaction, collaboration, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
The annual base salary range for this position is between $72,800 and $86,400.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
