VAT/GST accountant

Bringing IfOnly's expertise into Mastercard enhances our ability to deliver exclusive experiences for cardholders globally. The Senior Professional - VAT/GST advisor will be responsible for managing the VAT/GST compliance of IfOnly's platform, designing with senior management the optimal VAT/GST structure and manage the tax aspects of entering new markets.

Overview

•Responsible for the organization's VAT/GST affairs and for developing and executing effective VAT/GST strategies.
•Responsible for managing the tax aspects of expansion into new markets
•Activities include preparation of VAT/GST returns, ensuring VAT/GST compliance and reviewing and advising senior management of the implications of current or proposed VAT/GST legislation as well as the possible application of Digital Service Taxes (DST).
•You will be part of Mastercard's global tax team reporting to the ITX Director for Europe, AP and MEA.

Responsibilities

•VAT/GST planning or current structure and expansion into new markets.
•Preparation, validation and submission of monthly/quarterly/yearly VAT/GST returns.
•Manage requests for information from indirect tax authorities and manage tax audits.
•Prepares and maintains VAT records, VAT returns, reports and other related materials in compliance with all VAT/GST laws and regulations.
•Supports finance and other business areas with information and advice regarding all VAT/GST matters; occasionally redirecting or escalates requests.
•Assists in the preparation of related disclosures and/or audits (e.g. gathering information, researching).
•Assists in the maintenance and creation of a strong internal control environment.
•Researching, analyzing and interpreting changing VAT/GST legislation as well as Digital Service Taxes (DST).
•Providing accounting, AP, AR, GL and intercompany teams support and training to ensure that all transactions are following the VAT/GST regulations as well as the correct reporting of VAT/GST positions in GL.
•Ensure collections and payments are done in line with VAT/GST regulations.

Experiences

•Experience in accounting
•Understanding of VAT/GST laws, VAT/GST registrations and implementation (practical experience).
•Experience operating within an international tax organization, Big 4 firm or global law firm.
•Some prior experience in the field of VAT/GST.
•Experience participating in or managing projects for a diverse and international tax organization.
•Experience participating in global tax programs interpreting, applying and consulting on various day-to-day VAT/GST issues to ensure compliance.
•Experience with digital marketplaces is a plus.
