Director, Insurance Product Management, Europe

As the Product Manager for Insurance and Assistance at Mastercard, you will be responsible for the end-to-end product management for Insurance and Assistance products across Europe.

The Insurance and Assistance product line is contained within Mastercard Loyalty Solutions, the group responsible for creating products which attract new customers, as well as drive customer loyalty and spend on Mastercard's core products. You will be responsible for a large portfolio of insurance programs across Europe leading end-to-end product management from maintenance and development of new and existing products, ensuring our proposition is competitive, compliant and differentiated to add value to our issuers and cardholders.

Mastercard's insurance products provide cardholders peace of mind when traveling as well as purchasing goods and services with their Mastercard. Benefits include car rental insurance, travel accident, trip cancellation and lost luggage insurance as well as purchase protection and extended warranty. Our travel and home assistance programmes assure cardholders that help is always at hand with the ability to reach a specialist anytime, anywhere and in any language.

This is a regulated function, to be exercised under supervision of the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (the "FSMA"), and you must therefore have a sufficient degree of professional knowledge of the insurance sector, as well as have a sufficient degree of relevant practical experience in insurance mediation within the past 6 years. As part of this role, the successful candidate will need to be registered with the Belgian insurance regulatory body (FSMA) as MasterCard's PRD (Person Responsible for Distribution).

Responsibilities
• Lead and own strategic future of insurance related to payments and day-to-day product management across Europe.
• You will drive Insurance and Assistance product growth and retention as well as how these relevant products influence cardholder spend.
• Manage the relationship with external insurance partners including our broker and direct insurers, setting the scope and scorecard for the partnerships.
• Manage stakeholders at both a global and in-country level.
• Support Sales and Account Management teams in contact with our customers, who will be presenting, discussing and/or negotiating agreements on behalf of Mastercard Europe with card issuers.
• Provide product expertise to internal stakeholders to support issuer and consumer proposition development and commercial opportunities, for new business activity and retention.
• Ensure compliance of products within multiple complex markets across Europe.
• P&L ownership.
• Pricing and Distribution model development.

Key focuses will include:
• Optimise the insurance products for Europe.
• Develop new products and markets, in conjunction with external partners.
• Digitisation of our offering.
• Pilot innovation with insuretechs, in partnership with global team

Skills:

•Prior experience in insurance required
•Track record of effective commercial product management across diverse markets.
•Excel in a complex, fast paced environments with multiple levels of stakeholders
•Multi-disciplinary knowledge, i.e. product management, consulting, marketing, business development, etc.
•Strong interpersonal skills - the ability to build rapport and credibility quickly across functions.
•Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills with a proven track record in delivering commercial performance.
•Team player with an impeccable attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
•Excellent presentation, oral and written business presentation skills with various levels of audience

Qualifications:
This is a regulated function, to be exercised under supervision of the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (the "FSMA"), and you must therefore have a sufficient degree of professional knowledge of the insurance sector. The minimum regulatory requirement in that respect is (i) a master or equivalent degree, (ii) a bachelor or equivalent degree with at least 11 credits in technical insurance topics and 3 credits in business administration iii) hold a masters, bachelor or high school diploma together with a certificate of having passed an examination approved by the FSMA covering professional knowledge of insurance mediation. For the right person, Mastercard is also willing to sponsor an individual to complete the required certification approved by the FSMA.

Furthermore, you must have a sufficient degree of relevant practical experience in insurance mediation. Such experience must have been gained with an insurance company or intermediary during the past six years and it must be evidenced by presenting letters of reference.

You must also satisfy the "fit and proper"-criterion established by the FSMA. This entails that you have not been convicted to any prohibition from pursuing professional activities or for any financial crime described in Article 20 of the Belgian Banking Act of 25 April 2014, as evidenced by a certificate of good conduct ("certificat de bonne vie et moeurs") which is no older than three months. You have also not been declared bankrupt and you have not been director or manager of a company during a period of one year prior to the publication of such company's bankruptcy, unless if you obtained rehabilitation thereafter.

This role may require interaction with the FSMA and ongoing education in insurance regulation conducted in Dutch or French. Therefore, proficiency in either Dutch or French is mandatory, in addition to English.
