Director, Economics & Risk
We are looking for a director level in economic & market risk to join the economics institute to deliver impactful white papers in collaboration with our partners. This individual will report in to the lead thematic and econometrics based in New York.
we are looking for an individual who will:
be focused on the area of risk and help shape the group's economic insights thought leadership delivery
use their previous risk analyst experience and strong data science skills to design intuitive economic and financial market risk dashboards, interactive macro online scenario testing apps and drive thought leadership in the risk space.
work closely with the regional economist, will be responsible for the creation, and production of interactive, insightful, tailored presentations for priority customers, internal stakeholders and public policy influencers.
explore and analyze large sets of economic, financial and risk data sets to unearth key insights and bring these to life through relevant dashboards & visualizations.
translate business needs in to economic and data science requirements and be able to translate those insights back to business implications.
Passionate and creative about data, coding/programming, technology and its applications
Evidence of both orthodox and experimental approaches in economic thinking, interpretation or application - especially with respect to risk
Great story teller with ability to simplify concepts to non-economic or data science audiences
Must be a strong cross functional collaborator & independent thinker
Strong ability to manage complex projects and timelines effectively and handle evolving situations fluidly
Must have experience with utilizing different machine learning and artificial intelligence tools in past work
Demonstrated creativity or passion in any area outside of economics desirable
A solid foundation in wrangling data
Advanced coding abilities in R, Python, and other analytical tools (SQL)
Familiarity with other programming languages, is a plus
The ability to create simple and appealing visualizations
Quantitative research experience, ideally in a tech/healthcare/mapping geo-spatial/financial fields
Strong command of working with economic and financial market variables
Comfortable working in a fast paced and fluid environment, staying calm under pressure
Familiar with Git & Version Control
Visualization experience, ideally in a video gaming/app/tech/healthcare/medical/mapping geo-spatial/financial fields
Excellent design skills
Nice to haves
Comfortable developing within a UI Framework (Shiny, Django, HTML/CSS/JS, Rmarkdown, etc.)
Familiar with extracting data from different data structures (XML, SQL,etc.)
Has previously committed to open source projects
Has experience developing a website, app, blog, open source package, or economics research
