Data Project Manager

Overview:

The Data & Services team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing the cutting-edge services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base. We combine traditional management consulting with our rich data assets and in-house technology to provide our clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations. Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, test-and-learn business experimentation, and data-driven information and risk management services. While specializing in the payments industry, Mastercard Data & Services also works closely with major retailers, airlines, and other enterprises, leveraging data and insights garnered from within and beyond its network.

The ETL, Platform team, as part of Data & Services, focuses on both the execution of ETL development and data integration, as well as the creation of automation tools. We support the broader Delivery team with client-level data integration, and are a mix of Data Engineers and Data Project Manager's (at times called Data Liaison's).

Working with technology and data, you will gain broad exposure to the data of major financial service institutions in China, as well as clients in other industries ranging from retailers, hospitality, to airline companies. While working in close-knit teams, you will act as the bridge of communication between the client, the consultants on the team, and our data engineers across the world, managing all data tasks on the team to ensure accurate delivery.

Role:

•Build strong relationships with clients to understand their business needs and data environments.
•Manage team-level data tasks on a day-to-day basis and ensure in time and accurate task delivery.
•Work with data engineers across the globe to build robust ETL processes which integrate client data into our analytical platform.
•Train and mentor junior consultants to build up their data skills.
•Travel to client sites for in-person data meetings and on premise work on data extraction and statistical analyses when necessary.
•Reduce collaboration frictions due to geographic and cultural differences between the client, the consultants, and the data engineers and communicate key data information between these parties.
All About You:

•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or related field
•3+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional and cross cultural projects and Data Science/Business Intelligence/Data Engineering
•3+ years of work experience in SQL, ETL Development, Data Modeling and/or Data Warehousing
•Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
•Understanding of project/program management techniques and methods including Agile framework
•Working knowledge of program/project management software
•Excellent analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
•Working knowledge with at least one programming language such as Python
•Fluency in both English and Chinese Mandarin
